Anything in any anime that has made you think "But what about.."
For example, in One Piece, it takes Franky three seconds to build an engine on the back of a moving bull, but it takes three days to wax a boat.
Also, Robin should kick more ass with that ability of hers.
I like Dragon Ball. XD
And I'm interested in how foreign people think.
Please tell me your review of the anime.
So guys... do you guys know many femal Otaku?
Do you even date one??
I got a otaku-girlfriend, she also draws doujinshi.
Shes more like a doujin-otaku.
I'm an Anime, Manga & Game Otaku.
What Otaku-types match the most?? i really wonder...
your turn.
I've met a few female otakus in an Anime Club back in high school but never talked to them as much as I can remember. I can't say whether or not I'm an otaku too but I do like Anime, Manga, and all kinds Japanese related.
If I meet one, I'll be sure to let you know...
As far as I can tell, 90% of the female otaku around my area are "vampire otaku".
I've been tempted so many times to use the "We already have a Twilight anime. It's called "Vampire Knight" line.
And of course, along with the vampire gothic obsession comes the Death Note obsession. The live action Death Note movie in my theater was a nightmare.
"OMG L is eating. He's eating. KAWAIIIIII! OMG He's eating AGAIN."
There's a few female otaku I know that are really cool and very "Hey, even though I like yaoi, I'm not going to force it on you.", but generally, it seems the words "Vampire" and "Gothic" can describe my area.
There are a lot of otaku girls.
But most of them just stupid bitch and attention whores. Well, it is common description for any woman. You shouldn't expect some kind of mentality improvement just because she is anime fan.
define otaku.
I know many girls (and am one) who are into anime and/or manga, but aren't over the top obsessed with it.
That's the best type. One who likes and respects it, but doesn't make it a lifestyle.
Fat weeaboo bitches. Yeah, I see them all the time. I'd rather not talk to them or stand anywhere near them though.
whores
>>425
Yeah I wouldn't date a girl who made me call her waifu-san. or som shi
But that's something you don't need to worry about, because you'll never date a girl.
I am a female otaku thank you!!! As in anime/ manga/ gamer!
And I am very proud of it!!! World of Warcraft isn't only for guys thx!!!
=^.^=
what is this shit?
well, for starters, the fact that everyone is all buddy-buddy with one another
Isn't Kei based on Daybreak?
I'm sure it is, which is actually a good game, available for PSP and PC.
>>3 have you ever took the time to watch it, it changes alot
seeing how there's only 1 episode that's been subbed so far, i dont see how that's possible
>>6 no, theres been two seasons thus far, check out the link
wait, i'm not reading this right, sorry don't know about Rei, haven't gotten to it, I've been primarily reading the manga
I retract my previous statement, this ova is bomb
This OVA wasnt half bad. it is covering the extra route in the original visual novels decently. I have to admit the OP theme is quite catchy too. Though I originally mistook it for "subscription of data" whereas its really something along the lines of Super Scripture of Data.
Other than that, I liked the more fresh animation for it. the story was a bit rough in transition (As it ALWAYS is whenever she does her time hop deal) but still, the take on the story so far was really good.
Imagine... a world without killer Lolis and no pedophile doctor...
No insane main character who was both GAR and Fail at the same time.
My word... The real paradox is a normal realistic world afterall....
Hell, I like this new path...(No sarcasim..srs)
I just watched the 3rd part of this OVA. Shit's getting real.
Although the twist for this part was kind of predictable, it was still shocking, if you know what I mean.
Also, I was pretty happy when Rika put satoko in her place.
Just finished watching the 4th ova for this series and I have to say, this episode was probably the most thought-provoking episode I've ever seen from any anime. It might be because what Rika and Hanyuu deal with may be similar to what I was struggling with, which was the concept and the right to be an observer can only be given to someone who has the power and authority to actually judge which is better between the two parties, and that I'm better not worrying about it. For the first time, I think I can actually say an anime actually slapped me upside the head and put some sense into me. This ova series is definitely a keeper in my books.
What got you into anime? What was the first anime you saw? Share your anime-related memories. Oh, and I'd like to mention that I will judge you.
So. Personally, I grew up with anime. Atom (Astroboy), Ultraman, Gatchaman, Dragon Ball, Ranma, Doraemon, and a whooole bunch of others that I don't know the English titles for. However, my biggest obsession was Mado King Grandzort. I was so bummed when I immigrated that it wasn't very big in the US. Culture shock's a bitch when you're a little kid.
cowboy bebop on cartoon network back when adult swim rocked... now they basically suck, like can anybody but a eight grader really watch Tim and Eric?
I think it was pokèmon, a great hit here a few years back, and then after a while I got the taste for Naruto, wich I streamed of the net. (and still does..) for sode I am still a n00b, but now I'm at my 83 series of Anime ^^
Ninja Robots. It used to be on Cartoon Network back in 1999. I didn't realize what I was watching was anime back then.
i got hook on anime when i first watch ranma 1/2. ever since then i became i a big fan of rumiko takahashi work. and now i love anime since.
I think I got into anime as a passing hobby because of .hack//SIGN and Gundam Wing.
Once Fullmetal Alchemist came out on adult swim, and I happened to pick up the 4th volume of the Azumanga Daioh manga, I think that's what really got me into it.
Of course I saw Pokemon as a kid and all, but the anime that got me hooked into that realm would have to be Hellsing.
I started watching anime probably when i was 6, didnt know it at the time tho :>. dragon ball and DBZ were the shit, not to mention all the other animes on CN and midnight run (before adult swim)the anime that hooked me was kenshin, i loved that series ^-^. now im and addict :3. And... what do u mean, "you'll be judging us" :?
probably Pokemon, truth be told.
Though I had some odd "grimm's fairy tales" or something anime on VHS, but it was often violent so my mom forbade us from watching often.
Gundam Wing here.
you know your a otaku when you ask your girlfriend to roleplay as a anime character in bed.
You know you're an otaku if you watch anime that isn't released in america, nor is it advertised anywhere
you know your otaku when you get bored of anime becuase you saw every anime already!
you know your an otaku if all you draw is anime/manga style, even for art classes where doing so fails you.
you know youre an Otaku when you buy an external hard-disc to keep all your downloaded Anime on ^^
guess what I have..? \m/ (><) \m/
You know you're an otaku when 75% of the filled space on your hard drive is fansubbed anime, or if 50% is filled with anime in the original Japanese with no subbing or dubbing.
when your girlfriend's a yaoi fangirl xD
You know you're an otaku when you put regular music in your mp3 player to hide the fact that all you listen to is anime sound tracks!
u know ur an otaku when u can understand japemoticons like this:
\m/(><)\m/
>>312
Pfft. True otaku run out of memory in their mp3 player and thus delete any non-otaku songs to make room.
You know you're an otaku when you're interested in a boyfriend who likes hentai.
ITT we discuss the best anime intros we know. When in doubt about if you should focus on music/animation, choose music. Otherwise, the two can't really be separated so try to assess the whole things.
Try to keep to one intro/post for increased clarity and activity. No age requirement for the intros, but don't just discuss the two last seasons.
The obvious threadstarter is of course:
the Neon Genesis Evangelion intro.
Grooooovin' Magic~
Yorisoeba itu demo...
A smooth and cute poppy song that fits, not because it's Gunbuster, but because it's the very antithesis of Gunbuster in almost every way.
Simoun, for those that give it a chance, is a very well constructed character-driven war drama. The opening, despite Japan's propensity for mid-song guitar riffs for no reason, is excellent and poignantly accents the events that unfold.
Shin Shirayukihime Desetsu Pretear - There's something fun about the title and the saying of. Even better, though, is the opening theme, White Destiny, which has managed to sneak into most every playlist I've made in years. It's catchy, but not too hard so it fits everywhere almost.
Beyblade is terrible. Seriously, you're doing yourself a service by killing yourself if you actually take it seriously and are over the age of nine. However, somehow, it managed to get a song I've only ever heard called "Off the Chains" (it would fit...) as one of its openings. And THAT is awesome.
I love Yuzurenai Negai, the Magic Knight RayEarth OP. Then there's TOUGH BOY, the second Fist of the North Star intro. And the best thing is, Halko Momoi, my favourite singer, has covered both of them. :D
I love the Lucky Star opening (Motteke! Sailor Fuku) because it's crazy. (And having a dance to go with it doesn't hurt)
I love the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni opening (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) and the ending as well (why, or why not).
The ending animation is fairly boring, but I like the opening animation (and no, not because of the fanservice =P)
MAAAAA KUUUUU ROOOO SUUUUU
Pegasus Fantasy from Saint Seiya kicks your collective ass.
Hello.
I am a student living in Japan.
Please forgive a sudden note.
This is youtube in Japan.
I compete for the reproduction number of times by a dance contest performed in Japan.
Please play it.

I want to have the comment.

Mirage Of Blaze... Nice opening riff, solid female vocal, hot animation
>>64
This man knows what he's talking about.
Also, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei's OP "Buretenda" was pretty damn awesome.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei OP and Cloud Age Symphony from Last Exile seconded.
Maria+Holic's opening animation is really trippy, and I like the energy of the song (HANAJI) as well. The game style ending (Kimi ni, Mune Kyun) animation is also one of my favorites.
i like the girl that also likes girls, thats hot
its hard to choose since every character has their own merits. and funny too ^^ K-ON girls are simply funny.
yomi, she's hot

Check out this blogger who writes his views on it here: http://holding-on-still.blogspot.com/2009/04/full-metal-panic-live-action-zac-efron.html
I liked FMP a lot, it was very good and funny, hopefully they don't ruin it(though it is a high probability) like they did to dragonball z(haven't watched the movie myself :\ so basing this on reviews i heard)What do you guys think on this? Zac doesn't look or seem like he would be a good sousuke.
First Dragonball... Next Full Metal Panic
Presented by 20th Century Fox
GG! VERY GG!
But who will play Kaname?
>>6
Now THIS is an interesting question. And most importantly, will she have aweseome gorgeous long blue hair?
That sucks. Instead of making new and interesting stuff, they rehash stuff.
And not even that is done right, just look at that horrible Dragonball movie.
Oh come on, I went to see Dragonball Evolution on the first showing on the first day....
Just because me and some other dude were the only ones in the theater didn't mean anything right!?
It wasn't so bad... A fragment of my soul died that day, but it wasn't so bad. Dragonball Kai FTW
Lets just hope Kaname's blue hair isn't reduced to a few highlights like Bulma ; _ ;

Its fine for Hollywood to make anime movies, but they should have proper consultation from the original creator and the director. You know, that will not only improve the quality of the movie, also it will help in getting acceptance from the fans of the work.
And Zac Efron is the theatrical equivalent to the Jonas Brothers in music. Both are effeminate shitty pussies. There's no way he can be accepted in the movie of FMP, even if he is in a cameo.
Just throwing this out there: the books describe Kaname's hair as being black. I'd, personally, be more upset if LA Chidori had blue hair.
seriously folks, hollywood just fuck a perfectly good anime (i.e dragonball). and now they are doing it AGAIN in FMP! just leave the anime to the ones who actually knows how to properly adapt anime into movies. idk who but at least it ain't hollywood.
look hollywood just stick where you are good at, adapting marvel and DC comics as well as other threads. and leave anime to those who can faithfully adapt it well into live action. if you still want to stick your nose into the franchise. at least learn from the experts. like watch how the japanese actually make a live action anime.
I just finished Serial Experiments Lain. My head hurts now.
What else can I watch that is mindfucky like Lain?
I lost all respect for Lain after reading an interview with the producers that went like this-
Q: What was the purpose of the aliens in Episode 9?
A: We like aliens.
That is an ingenious answer!
Q: What is the purpose of our life?
A: We live ----> we are just here, so we have no real purpose!
End of Evangelion had its dose of mindfuckness. The rape scene from Kanashinmi no Belladonna was quite disturbing the first time I watched it.
But, you know, if you want something completely fucked up go watch "Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show". I am quite used to violence and gore in anime. That thing made me stop watching after the puppy part.
Kite was awesome, though totally NSFW (contain explicit scenes of violence, sex, and other not cool stuff). Also, Higurashi.
Oh, and the series with the kid with paranormal powers, but I forgot the name. "Sci-Fi Harry" I think, but it might be another name.
And I still don't get Paranoia Agent.
>>23
Wow. I just watched that.
Uh.
I want to order the manga now.
theres a rape scene? when I watched when I was roughly 11 i didn't see it ^-^; could be though from Adult Swim censorship
some of these listed off though are half philosophy mindfucks
monster is a good one but its long
higurashi no naku koro ni
that screwed up my brain for the rest of my summer vacation
This isn't a mindfuck, but it is more like just fuck, lol
its an anime movie, a prequel to a game, called Dead Space: Downfall. I love that movie so much and the game is amazing as well.
why not try School Days? its has a interesting storyline, but when the last few episodes comes up it starts to fuck up. the protagonist starts to piss me off and the ending left me hate such genres. i really hate such anime where ppl go get killed or die for such stupid circumstances.
