It is not often that a cartoon can evoke such absolute malicious feelings in me. NO. I think I would have committed illegal acts if I had actually watched the entire thing. People praised this bullshit!? Narutaru is BY FAR the worst anime ever. Horrible drawing, but I can deal with that. Main characters are middle schoolers with obvious adult voices, and they talk like they're fucking adults anyway! FINE let's pretend they're geniuses. Now these children bully each other in way's only serial killers and rapists in our society behave. FINE they're sadistic. But after 3.5 random episodes I literally feel- NO not feel I WOULD murder the author of this tale, because it is absolutely AWFUL. It is an absolute disgrace to anime. This is as unrealistic as it gets, and what's worse is that they try to pull it off with a serious face!? I actually feel repulsion to the fact that this shit sat on my harddrive for however many weeks before I finally decided to judge if it was worth watching. If anyone here has got a worse anime; please be my guest and share. This isn't even about taste and whether you are more into DBZ or Sailor Moon or anthing like that. This is bad, that ANYONE should be able to filter out. I just cannot help but be irritated that I spent whatever amount of time watching this. Absolutely pissed.

My pick for worst anime ever is any anime where anyone trips, slips, and accidentally falls on top of a luscious pair of breasts or face-first onto a nubile vagina (which is a lot of anime). Maybe it's because I aint Japanese, but I'm sorry, I haven't tripped and fallen since I was about 12 years old. If falling face down into someones tits is so commonplace that it wouldn't lead to you getting arrested for sexual harassment, I'd probably hear about it by now.
XD you like Narutaru you don't count. Anime is an animated exageration of reality, whether you add boobs, or wings doesn't matter. So you could say you don't like Hentai, because if you dislike something as simple as a trip into some boobage, then you must hate those lust at first site Oh No DON'T (but really do) types of animes too. It's all exageration, but some anime take it out of the box, and by far, lots of anime take it out of the box and into the trash.
I'm not sure if anime is an exaggeration of reality, I thought anime was simply a vehicle for telling stories. Whether it's exaggerated or realistic is really up to the creators to decide.

Some series like DBZ do run on for too long with the same plot. I just can't say it's a good anime. Though it did have its good parts I guess. The thing with sailor moon (lota people dissing) is that this anime is for kids. Little girls who pretend they're princesses so you kind of have to take it from that perspective. You start out with a whiney junior high school who EVENTUALLY yes she eventually does get more mature.

For some reason I watched this show avidly many moons ago, but after seeing some anime gems like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo I finally realized how bad it was.
1) Throughout much of the series none of the non-Saiyan characters are important except as hostages/victims/comic relief. This includes the warriors who in the DragonBall series (notably less sucky) who are so blantantly overshadowed by the three or so main characters.
2) Each episode consists primarily of dramatic pauses and power-up sequences, meaning a total of 45 frames of animation appear per show.
3) Story arcs are way too long, dragged out primarily by the aforementioned with remaining time given to taunts and cliche'd philosophical waxing best described as 'white space'.

I agree. DBZ is a bad series. The characters/plot isn't bad, but...did they really have to make 8 episodes about stuff that can be done effectively in 2 episodes? It was bad enough back then, when it was shown on t.v. weekly. Now, it's a collector's nightmare. It's a shame, in the first season of Dragonball (no'Z', goku was a kid) the pace was just fine.

I stand by my opinion that narutaru and excel saga are bad. If they had children, hell would freeze over. If people think these are good anime, it makes me wonder what people in general think of as a good anime. Ex: Graveyard of the Fireflies. I don't care if I'm crossing genres, point is, no matter what genre if something is well done, then it's well done. If not, then obviously no. The thing about narutaru is that no matter how much they tried to unsugarcoat things, they did so by exagerating situations. Something as simple as the way that they talked was like Bush suddenly grew a brain and good vocabulary with proper pronounciation. I mean it's just illogical. And I'm saying that not in reference to the fact that there's magic crap in the show, but no matter how sci-fi or fantasy genre you get the point is that the characters remain human, so that the audience can step in their shoes and really feel the situation. In narutaru everything is so farfetched that you can't sit through five minutes of the show without losing interest.
Maybe you have never thought a bad thought in your life, and therefore can't empathize with what a lot of the characters say and do, but I know that I personally have, in my deepest darkest moments, thought things that some of those people say out loud, and act on. That's the power of the show (and even more so the manga) - it can work as a mirror of the darkest parts of yourself.

I've had lots of evil thoughts in mind. I've almost acted on a lot of them, but none the less I didn't act them out in a cheesy way like this. I've seen and experienced bullying at the elementry level, and it isn't anything like that. Most kids don't know enough anyway. See I wouldn't have such a problem with the show if they didn't try to slop all of this on like underdeveloped children. There's some things you just don't have a full scope on as kids. If they stuck this on some late teens or adults it would be a whole other story.

I haven't watched Narutaru or Excel Saga or any of that stuff so I dunno whether it's good or bad. But no matter how much people say DBZ sucks or whatever, everybody has their own taste. For me, DBZ was my first anime (be it good or bad to others) so it holds a place for me. I steer clear of that mainstream stuff like Witch Hunter Robin or Inuyasha simply because its the shit Cartoon Network licenses and dubs to shit.

anyway the rule for bad anime is basically if anybody who isn't me has seen it, it's total shit. basically anime is only cool five minutes after the raw is released. after that somebody watches it. after THAT somebody fansubs it, so it's half as cool right there. if somebody licenses it for US release, its coolness plummets to ten percent and god forbid they show it on US television, because then an already shitty show loses all of its credibility.

I know. I watched an episode of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo last night on Toonami, and I could hardly understand it. I heard it is full of Japanese jokes and untranslatable pop-culture references, but, if it is, they were either removed in favor of weirder stuff, directly translated (leaving non-Japanese watching the show confused), or just left in without explanation, or aybe I missed a lot because I was taping the show, and half-watching it and also half-chatting on IRC.
Either way, it's certainly weird. Viz also left on a ton of Japanese text, which I can read, but which probably leaves many people rolling around in their chairs from confusion over what those weird symbols mean. It was kind of funny, thoguh, in a really weird way.
I also just looked up who writes it on Wikipedia, and it's written by Yoshio Sawai. Feel free to do a Google search for him and report on if he really does crack or not.

I watched this garbage until Ep13 before giving up. I really should have done it right after the first episode. Ok, so the hero (don't remember and don't wanna remember his name) dies, sorta, and encounters Shana. Who repeatedly tell him to stop asking stupid questions and fuck off, yet every time she goes GTFO she turns around moments later and gives a long long long explanation about what's going on. WTF? Also clumsy, because long ass explanations break up the flow of the story.
Sadly this show is so fucking scared of confusing the school schildren watching this shit that it's constantly holding them by the hand and making everything absolutely crystal clear. Yah, I said school children. Don't kid yourself that this is aimed only at otakus. This is an anime for boys whose voice just broke. The otaku elements are there so the children can go "Wow, this is so grownup!". Nothing bad about kid's shows per se, but just don't fool yourself about the demographics here. The only thing an otaku is slavering for in this show is loli-Shana.
And naturally we get a scene with one of the most distasteful instances of fanservice I've seen. It's not just because loli-Shana takes off her clothes, but because the scene sticks out like a sore thumb. It's simply so clumsily inserted. And the clumsiness doesn't end there because "subtle" is not a word in the director's dictionary. The sooper dooper dramatic music will play even when it's not appropriate. After all, gotta start building that tension early on. Oh, and the OP ED songs are mediocre shit and not the wow cool like you stupid kids with no taste claim.
To fit the background music almost everybody delivers their lines with great exaggeration. To top it off many have those obligatory speech quirks that in this show fails at sounding cute. The maid (yes, gotta have one) that trained Shana finishes her evey sentence with a robotic emotionless "de arimasu". Marjorie's book is apparently supposed to sound only a bit annoying but that over the top laughter seriously made me hope she would chuck the tome in the nearest lake. And the incestous twins, ugh. I guess it's supposed to be oh so shocking, titillating and of course grownup. Except any effect is ruined by the retarded brother whose voice actor incredibly enough manages to make himself sound even more annoying than when he played Joshua in Chrno Crusade (Fuck you Shana for making me write a run-on sentence). When the twins die it's enough to make an atheist sing the praises to God.

This show is made of so much fail that every time I was thinking that maybe it was getting better, it would dash my hopes within minutes. If like me you can see from early on that Shakugan no Shana is all flash and no substance, drop it because it ain't gonna improve later on.

i don't think it's that it's a kids' show for otaku. it's that otaku watch kids' shows and they don't have to be terribly sophisticated to get an otaku crowd to watch. in fact, it's BETTER that they be childish.
