OK this site seems to be full of people who are obssesed with the fanbase. I have friends who like anime but they refuse to buy it. they are twins and one is spending all of his money on his damned GF. the other spends all of his money on shootem up games. they have a few box set but they never watch them. they also both have aprox 3 posters.

I need to find friends who are dedicated anime fans. I live in millwaukee and I dont think many people here are passionete for anime. how do I find these people?

I'm a huge fan of anime but I never buy any of it, I just look for [and appreciate!] fansubs instead. What you're saying is that since we don't spend money we're not legitimate fans? You are horrible you should feel horrible, I don't make very much money to spend on entertainment you know. SO I'M AFRAID SINCE IT'S COME TO THAT WE CAN'T BE FRIENDS but yeah there are anime clubs freaking everywhere, probably a few in Milwaukee! You'll definitely find a shitload of people. Aren't there any anime conventions there?

3<< i dont mean to offend. its just that I want extremely big fans. heres an example. If you liked baseball and you collected card and bobbleheads you would want friends who have similar interests rather than someone who only watches baseball on TV right?

Some fans are so extreme that they boycott commercial releases because of the relatively shitty job the companies do compared to the fansubbers.

that was back before fansubbing became a competition of speed

I don't personally care about speedsubs myself.

There are still fansubbing groups who can do a better job than the commercial companies, but they're pretty much in the minority now, both because commercial translations have gotten better and because of the warez-sceneing of fansubs. There is some real horrible shit being put out by some fansubbers.

It isn't that hard to find someone who is interested in anime and cosplay in the world if you look hard enough. If your trying to find a fantatic like someone who owns a house full of anime and related items then it might take you a while.

The area I'm in just started its own local convention, amazingly.

honestly, if everyone thought like you did, the whole anime business would go down the drain, because no one would make any money, and as much as everyone would like to work for no money, it's quite hard to support yourself on no money =P
it's nice that you appreciate it and stuff, but really, money makes the world go round.

...How cynical of me >_>

Ahah. You don't have to buy a lot to be a fan. My parents won't let me have any posters in my room but my FMA one. -really wants a haruhi one.- when i get to college in september, it will be different

I am an Anime,Manga,Game Otaku from Chicago,IL. I am a huge anime fan and I do work (used to work 2 now 1 job) I do usually find myself spending most of my money on anime and manga... So sometimes I have to just bare it and not eat for the day, or hope somebody at home made something. I was on a budget, but with all these boxsets coming out and soon the new DBZ Season 3 set will be released I have to buy that along with the new I"S, Black Cat, Hitman Reborn and ... well as you can see I can go on. I try to save money by buying only the anime and manga that I really want, and downloading the stuff that well lol I can download through torrents. Sorry for just ranting like this, most of my friends are usually busy with other things and aren't interested in anime anymore. So thanks for listening bye!
