...Your thoughts?

I for one, like the series a lot. And the artist. I think it's the same person who did Rahxephon. Or however it was spelled. (That anime depressed the fuck out of me.)

I liked the art, but I must admit that I lacked interest to see more than a few episodes,...

Pretentious, dull, and lacking any real depth.

could barely sit through the first two episodes. Is it worth watching a few more?

I thought it was okay. There's even a proper, logical ending to the madness at the very end. And the little android girl added refreshing cuteness to this dark world. My only complaint is that I had to boost my gamma way up as it was often very dark.

It gets easier to follow but even less interesting.

I found turning the lights off in the room was just as good at making the show seem brighter.

The nice thing about this show is that when you are arguing that the whole thing is ridiculously pretentious, you only have to point out that the ED is by Radiohead to make your case.

I may be paranoid, but not an android.

I love this show.

Just because it's too deep for you, you don't have to attack it.

Wonderful show, I love pino, the only thing about it is that it's really depressing and I'm on meds that give me a higher chance of depression and suicide.

Perhaps you did not notice the part where I said the show was too shallow for me. It pretends to be "deep", but it's all glitz and no substance. Making references to post-modern philosophers is not the same as actually being insightful.

It was a very good series.

15 Post deleted.

Just because you are impressionable enough to think there's something deep about shows that shovel at you references to high culture even more frequently than Evangelion did, you don't have to imply that anyone who dislikes this show is merely too dumb to understand it.

What's the matter, too DEEP for you?

I really enjoy this series a lot because it provoked deep discussion about the life and vengeance. Also, it deals with science, which I was uninterested in for several years until I saw Ergo Proxy. I actually love how each episode is so different yet it still follows the basic outline of storyline. My favorite one is the game show, since it revealed everything about Ergo Proxy. Excellent show but the DVDs are too expensive for me, since I'm poor college student.

It wasn't deep, and only mildly entertaining, but the animation and sound (excluding the gay Radiohead song) and character design was stunning.

Yeah, actually. I think that's why I watch the show.

The story was a little meh, but the artstyle I really enjoyed.

Only one character. How Vincent changes over the series was pretty nice.

Copypasta'd from somewhere else...

'I found so many people called this pretentious babble, but it was hardly that.

This show lives on its own ideas about humanity, individualism, “God”, social issues, mythology (many of the characters borrow from Celtic, Norse and ancient Greek pre-Christian mythology), identity, civilization, social hierarchy’s and so much more. It only slightly borrows pre-existing philosophical ideas, and when it does, it expands on them. It’s easy to say it’s pretentious if you don’t get it, but if you can grasp the subjects at hand and realize they’re not what the show is primarily about - and rather simply a backing to it - then it’s easy to enjoy this for what it is. It’s one of the finest pieces of science fiction I’ve seen.

It’s interesting to take note that a few of the main robots/AutoReivs are named after Edmund Husserl, Jacques Lacan, and Jacques Derrida. If you’re familiar with their philosophical and educational subjects, it really adds a lot of depth to the series (concepts about deconstruction, structuralism, epistemology). This form of “covert intellectualism” (for lack of a better word) reminds me a lot of Boogiepop Phantom and Serial Experiments Lain, which had lots and lots of subtle ideas planted into the show that really need a conscious mind to notice and interpret.'

Only one character was outwardly emo. The rest of them were emo inside.

They should make computer stickers with that on it.
