I need some good books (fiction or non-fiction, no SF/fantasy or Japan-related, please) that make for light beach reading. Preferably books I can find cheap in a used book store. I'm on vacation to Tampa soon and I want some real solid book time.

My likes: Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Michener, Jimmy Buffett

My dislikes: Serious Literature

oh lawld

Moving on, maybe something historical and quaint like Tom Sawyer or Anne of Green Gables?

If you want cheap and really light, any used book store should have Choose your own Adventure or Hardy Boys.

look, maybe it's just me, but I don't get how you could stand reading any of those authors you listed. Why don't you just buy some posthumous Seuss knock-offs and play with your drool?

I = idiot. -- I deserve the saging of a billion VIPs for that. --

I could use something satirical and enjoyable, and I never read Tom Sawyer. Need to do that.

I used to read Choose Your Own Adventure books like stockbrokers do cocaine. Too light and kiddy for my tastes... I was thinking something like Don't Stop the Carnival or stuff like that.
