If I made coffee illegal and waited outside a Starbucks for someone to walk out that I didn't like and arrested him while ignoring all the other millions of people walking by would that be legal?

Even if it is it certainly seems wrong so why is it we still have anti obscenity laws which only get enforced when someone people don't like is brought to trial?

Police don't have the resources to actively pursue every possible obscenity case. It's incredibly subjective, and it's so unimportant compared to other crimes. So it only comes to trial when someone reports it; and that can usually be because they don't like someone or find it 'offensive'.

Simple: don't ban coffee, don't ban obscene things. No one deserves the right not to be offended.

We can pursue more law-breakers and be less biased by getting rid of stupid and victimless crimes.
