Well, I'm not so upset about Geocities now.
So, I'd love to state my opinion on this matter.

As the internet traffic and storage capacity grow
the value of a single byte deprecates.

Uncontrolled emission of new hard disk drives,
memory cards and other mediums allow users
(including developers, designers, etc -
whose products are used by other people) to be wasteful.
Which they happily become.

People love to mock an infamous quote by William Gates
from early 90s. Even this genius didn't expect the crash
of the byte value. It's a shame that the company
of which he was a leader is particularly responsible
for this.

Similar thing applies for computational resources.
This is why I use BOINC. All those watts hertz
won't go unused. Hopefully, they will help scientists
to build a better world.

In conclusion, >>100, with today's mass availability
of the net access and vast space that various online
services (i.e. blog platforms) offer you for free,
it won't make a difference if you claim it. The deed
is already done. You won't ruin the WWW by posting
photos of your dirty socks, etc. You won't make it
better by not doing it. It's just a matter of choice.
Currently, you're like a vegan.
