I've been wondering lately. If western textboards would have more traffic, how would they change? I know too much traffic is something we want to avoid since it drives in a lot of newbies, having no clue at all about how textboards work and what not. The best example are teh 4chins. But still, how would it turn out? Do you think we would grow into our Japanese counterparts (Which are pretty shitty)? Or would we be a fast /vip/? Either way, I think the result would be a pretty shitty one.

I think part of the reason I enjoy textboards so much is that they are not a mainstream type of site. Sure, *chan has caught on in the past decade, but it's still at the level where nobody I know in real life uses it. I enjoy these because they are obscure. If they did become as popular as 2ch, the fun of using them would deteriorate hugely.

Even /dqn/ is overpopulated, if all textboards were the Unholy Citadel it would be best.

I like the traffic we get here, I think its just right, but sometimes it's nice to chill out in the <1 post a day boards.
