No need for a smartphone? That's some fox-and-the-grapes shit. Sounds like you just don't know how much more convenient a smartphone is. Try it, I think you'll be surprised at how much more you can get done.

Then again, if you just sit on your ass all day, instead of going out a lot, then yeah, it might be hard to see the benefit of having a phone you can take with you instead of a completely immobile desktop.

A smartphone is a computer that fits in your pocket. You can't lug your desktop around with you everywhere. Hell, I don't even use a desktop anymore. I have one, but I just don't use it. It's much more convenient to use my laptop. But a lot of the time, I prefer to use my phone instead.

Then again, I'm not surprised that someone on an old text board is using ancient technology.
