Recommend some running shoes? (11)

Recently I decided to take up running, and I need a new pair of shoes that won't cut of the circulation to my feet. I run fine in my favorite pair of nurse-type shoes, but I don't want to ruin those. Just a pair of forgivable comfortable inexpensive shoes. Some arch support would also be nice ^^ Any suggestions?

Best bet is to go to a specialist running shop where they can analyse you running and suggest a shoe from that. It may be more expensive, but you'll get a great shoe that will work for you.

Totally worth it. Damn the expense.

Running to get in shape is an awful idea, especially for girls. Swimming is a much better idea.

On a related note, anyone know of any shoes with no arch support whatsoever? I want to run like I don't have shoes on but not moccasins, actual shoes.

I think Nike have a pair of shoes. Somethine like Nike Free? I remember seeing a magazine ad for them with loads of those African long-distance runners wearing them (because a lot of them have run barefoot) but since then I haven't heard a thing.

One piece of advice though is that if you've been running with normal shoes, be careful switching to barefoot running (and I imagine the Nike Frees/shoes that emulate barefoot are the same) because your ankles won't be so used to the lack of support. So even if you run long distances at the moment with no problem, you'll need to hold back and work on getting used to running with less support before starting to up the distance.

Oh, I've walked barefoot all my life, so that's not a problem. I've just started running longer distances lately and realized my shoes suck.
