Middle Eastern Food (5)

1 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-20 06:07 ID:a/L/uOfr

What's there to eat in middle eastern cuisine? Good meat? Could someone recommend something please?

2 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-20 10:09 ID:VzTdmKRe

Food in the Middle East? What?

3 Name: AnonymousMan7 : 2008-11-30 08:08 ID:D8ldOzFp

East Indian food is one of the best, in my opinion. If you like curry, fried bread, and spicy food, it's the BEST!!!!

4 Name: sageking : 2008-11-30 21:16 ID:Heaven

Cous cous, Tajin (arab stew > europe disgusting stew), Fish, etc etc.

5 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-30 22:32 ID:jwYVtRSC

Couscous is the delicious.

KOREAN food! (52)

1 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2006-12-29 20:04 ID:5PcgZFrG

I love Korean food, and we don't have a thread for it!

What is your favorite?

I like Kimchi and Kimbop, of course. And for main dishes Bibimbop, Japchae and Naengmyeon are very good.

Some Maeuntang would also be nice right now, too.

43 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-06-21 11:46 ID:/vY/Tsai

The only Korean stuff I've ever ate was a caramel candy stick which was apple flavored.

44 Name: Irked Eater!3GqYIJ3Obs : 2008-06-24 10:26 ID:pdLY0Jo5

>>37 You could try some japchae. It's noodles with vegetables, so I wouldn't see why a vegetarian couldn't eat it.

As far as favorite korean foods, I would have to say bulgolgi or kalbi.

I really like kalbi but I just hate the whole short ribs and the bones thing - which is basically kalbi.

But I love the way it's marinated!!!

45 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-07-28 22:25 ID:/nPlSX4A

I like pulgogee, whole fried fish, and stone bowl seafood soup.

46 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-10-11 11:55 ID:r3z11Nua

black bean sauce chapagetti...!!! just ordered a huge box... I like kimchi, too. and korean curry... and then those bbq chicken breasts, they're delicious!

Whats the korean dish with the noodles and the onion sauce called? Its a dark looking sauce...

50 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-14 19:25 ID:/nPlSX4A

I don't care if it's cats 'n' dogs or whatever, Korean BBQ is wonderful. Really, any flesh of any animal is probably awesome that way.

Kalbi... marinated short ribs... sooooo good.... had some last night and it was awesome

Is Melon Bread Good??? (17)

1 Name: AnonymousMan7 : 2008-11-16 08:21 ID:KNgNeh4O

Is it good???? Almost every anime I watch, there's someone who loves melon bread, like Shana from Shakugan No Shana.

8 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-20 02:24 ID:CNtV7gls

IMO, it's not that good. It's just sour bread.

and yes, I've had it fresh.

9 Name: Otakun : 2008-11-20 05:59 ID:9mtFOvcu

Sour? Its supposed to be sweet...

10 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-22 04:32 ID:cTm+RHZg

It is sweet. I bought some at my local Japanese bakery. It's really sweet, actually. For some, it could be a bit TOO sweet, but it's just right for me. Oh, it could be a bit bland by itself so I recommend getting it with chocolate chips or something.

I recommend getting melon bread from a bakery instead of prepacked. Prepacked gets gross...

11 Name: Bork bork bork : 2008-11-23 02:40 ID:2GldeHll

In my city, the only easily available Japanese food are sushi. Do any of you made melon bread at home? I'd like to try some too.

I don't really now where to start searching for recipes. What makes the essence of good melon bread?

12 Name: Mandy : 2008-11-23 07:03 ID:yLoQ49Ij

In Mexico there's a very similar one to melon bread called "conchitas" :) But i think it's a copy from original melon bread.

13 Name: AnonymousMan7 : 2008-11-25 04:40 ID:KNgNeh4O

Ya, they have conchitas in AZ too!

Hey, if I could find the recipe for melon bread, I'll cook it!

Anybody know what the recipe is or where I could find it?

14 Name: Jamz : 2008-11-25 23:08 ID:bDJrmGOr

I would be very interested in a Melon bread recipe also.

If I find anything on it I will post it. ^.^

So today, I discovered I could make pasta in a rice cooker! ~ turned out well too!
Any other recipes/ideas I could make using a rice cooker? It doesn't have a steamer unfortunately.

2 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-21 09:35 ID:nOaqM0zC

You can make bread in a rice cooker. It takes a few hours though.

Tea Love Thread (121)

1 Name: Alexander!DxY0NCwFJg!!MF8+ySC1 2005-10-07 02:57 ID:Heaven

ZOMG we don't have a general-purpose tea thread!

ITT we discuss our tastes in relation to this noble liquid! Personally I'm a tea bag person, but if someone wants to rant about tea bag = death, then feel free to.

Lipton Sun Tea is a spawn of Satan. Twinings - especially the Darjeeling kind - is lovely. I put in both sugar and honey and mix it with 1:1 with milk..I guess I have childish taste. ; )

Pick up some pomegranates today. (2)

1 Name: lolanon : 2008-11-08 21:59 ID:vUfKLt3a

So I went to Sam's today and picked up a set of pomegranates today. The case usually comes with 4 poms in one. A deal of 7.99 for it...

My jaw dropped to see them at this time of month since it's Nov....

2 Name: Anonymous Chef : 2008-11-14 19:21 ID:/qD2ESHJ

I love them, they force you to eat slowly and savor them, and possibly share.

Definitely not a "convenience fruit", to coin a phrase, but I really like them.
