Well, I'm hosting a little house soiree and I've run into a bit of a spot.

I'm intending to serve a four-course, but the problem lies in the dessert. I've no idea what to pair red meat (steak) with in terms of dessert. Should I go for something fruity? Perhaps a raspberry sorbet inside of a scoop of chocolate ice cream and then a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top?

And for the seafood, it's a beer batter fish (requested), and for the dessert, same thing except lemon sorbet on top on vanilla, with a dollop of cream on top?

Thanks everyone!

Steak is heavy. A dessert served afterwards should be light, for contrast, in my opinion.

In North America, late spring is a time for fresh berries generally and strawberries particularly. Strawberry shortcake would be appropriate, perhaps made with angel food cake rather than the traditional pound cake to make the texture lighter, and of course with fresh sliced berries on top.
