straight to the point,

  1. why is there such a huge difference between American gamers and Japanese gamers in general?
  2. Do European gamers have the same taste with American gamers?

and finally

3. which genre is better for you? eg. RPG, FPS, RTS, daing sim, etc.

  1. im not aware of any difference, what difference are you talking about?
  2. im european, you are assuming i understand what american gamers' tastes are, which i dont.

secondly, not everyone is the same, one american may like something different to another, likewise a european to another european

3. i dont really have a favourite

The culture here (and in Japan) is very different so what is acceptable for sale there (eroge) is not tolerated in retail outlets here and it's so hard to market eroge in North America due to how hard it is to sell. The only places you could sell them would be niche anime stores, conventions, and online.

As for the outrageous amount of violence in our games, I wouldn't be able to explain that.

>2. Do European gamers have the same taste with American gamers?

During my stay there earlier in the year, it's pretty much the same thing except with more soccer titles and rally racing games. Apart from the fact that the World Cup had just ended in Europe when I arrived there, the top 5 games were pretty much the same thing as we had in North America 4 months ago.

>3. which genre is better for you? eg. RPG, FPS, RTS, daing sim, etc.

I prefer music games, such as Beatmania IIDX and Dance Dance Revolution... mainly because I have no talent in many other games. I will play a few FPSes (mostly Sauerbraten and Metroid Prime Hunters) once in a while, but when I'm not playing music games and FPSes, I'm playing racing games.

I would play dating sims, but obtaining Mac-compatible eroge is incredibly hard. :/

I remember when Gainax marketed some of their renai games to the US. Their US site lasted all of like 2 months. Sadly they had a Mac compatible game and I didn't have the funds at the time to buy it.

I'm European, my humble experience is that the more "casual" gamers tend to go with American tastes and the more "dedicated" game fans tend to have more Japanese tastes. Obviously not a rule, just an observation.
