Anyone knows why the DS Lite is out of stock? I have checked online at amazon and then today at Fry's and Walmart and they are all out of stock!! Why is that? And then the ones that are available on ebay, the prices are outrageous! Do you guys know when they will have them back again?

Because judging by holiday sales, suddenly EVERYONE wants a DS. You'll probably have to wait until demand dies down a bit or watch the stores like a hawk.

nintendo had a shortage over the holidays. You should be seeing them in again in february

stop being such a whore and get an original DS. the build quality's better and GBA games don't stick out.

not as pretty, screen not as bright--especially the lower screen, this makes a big difference--also, smaller stylus, and strangely enough it is much less comfortable to hold than the new one.

the nice thing about the old ds is that the start/select buttons aren't tiny little dots in a hard to reach place. plus you can push the buttons with the tip of the stylus quite easily; can't do that with the new one

and of course, fullsize gba slot is good

my $.02

Check stores like Sears, stores you don't usually think of when you want to get video games. That's where I got mine a week or so before Christmas.

At this point there's practically no reason not to buy a DS Lite if you can find it, unless it's not in your budget or you're hard up for so-called "mature" games.

Don't forget that the original DS is NOT region protected. That way, we can all play that Doki Doki Majo Saiban game in America.

Also good for importing Cooking Navigator now that it's getting a European release.

by not being a weeaboo and buying EBA?

16 Name: Anonymous Gamer : 2007-03-18 00:08 ID:r/u4SAqf

EBA is just a sequel, so I have both.

Besides, the songs in EBA suck comparatively.

17 Name: Anonymous Gamer : 2007-03-18 02:08 ID:LLBnEBeU

they're both mostly dreck, you just don't know japanese so you can't tell how bad the ones in ouendan are.

it is? got a link?
i assume they're adding a bunch of european dishes, but will they keep the japanese stuff in as well? ah, so many questions.

>>17 Actually I know enough Japanese to understand how bad the songs are, they just aren't as bad as the ones in EBA.

At least the vocalists don't suck as much as the ones they used for the covers in Donkey Konga.

Oh boy, is it another weeaboo fight? People who say, "Oh I like teh song because it's Japanese!" VERSUS "I'm so Japanese, I hate the song!!"

All the nintendo products are region free. they want everyone to enjoy nintendo games no matter where they are.

Thats actually false. N64 and Wii are region locked and can only be unlocked through "illegal" 3rd party modification ships

28 Name: Renagade : 2007-05-02 23:03 ID:lmtQynl2

Oops, I forgot Gamecube. Yup, its region locked as well

you forgot all their other home consoles as well.

NES carts and the NES console (except the latest toploader version) contain a lockout chip which differed between regions, European and American games weren't compatible with the other region's consoles. Also, games from certain parts of Europe aren't compatible with consoles from other parts of Europe. The Japanese Famicom and Famicom games don't have a lockout chip, but the carts are not pin compatible with NES carts, so you need an adapter anyway.

The SNES, well the Japanese and American games are compatible, but the cart shape was different so you had to cut the plastic of the slot. European games and consoles aren't compatible with any other region.

So, yeah, only their handhelds aren't region locked, the home consoles are. That's always been the case.

Japanese SFC games also sometimes refuse to run on not-japanese Systems. They will usually tell you "This Game Pak is not designed for you SFC/SNES System". Especially later games often showed that. Too bad I only got an adaptor. Love my original Famicom tho :)
