Why Am I So Awful At Games? (9)

I need to vent. And I need advice, maybe. Or some place to pass the blame other than my own retardation. Or something.

I've been playing Xbox 360 online lately... speaking specifically of Call of Duty 4, Gears of War 2... and I am completely awful at every turn. It's not even just that the other team that round happens to be better than me or that I'm having a streak of bad luck or that I need more time to play and improve, I completely suck every single round.

I am sick and tired of trying my hardest to be alert and even seeing the enemy before they see me more often lately...and then losing a firefight. No manner of gun upgrades or aiming practice makes any difference I am simply awful at every round.

I love shooters. But at the moment, I'm desperately searching for a more enjoyable and accessible genre. I have zero interest in fighters and rhythm games. I am fed up with online gaming right now. It's part of the reason I chose the 360; I adore online gaming, I always have. But I'm in search of some version or variation of it that I don't despise and suck at.

UGH. Rant over for now. Comments welcome.

tl;dr: I suck really, really, really hard at online 360 FPS's no matter what I do. What's a more accessible online game/genre?

Relax. Don't play to win, play to play (fun) and eventually you will get better. Stress in a game or any negative emotion fucks up your game. oh yeah how long you been playing? Games like CoD4 are full of pro's because they have been playing for a long time (like my friend, every day since purchase).

>>2 I agree with you!

I am not really great at games, but I just play to have fun and can get into it easily.

same with me and RTSs. I suck at them, but I like them anyway. Sometimes, people just suck at games - and other people are just ungodly good. So, i dunno, start a noob server?

(just try logging into a Starsiege:Tribes server. They might as well be machines!)

Oy, yeah, you're right. I need to play to have fun. Heh, sigh.

>>4 yeah, i suck at RTS also. Thankfully I'm also not that much of a fan of them.

>>4 is right, maybe try to join/start a noob only server.

And yeah, people playing to be the best will be better than you everytime. Because they are nerds nerdier than nerds, that spend every waking moment on this. But most aren't having fun.

easy
"training makes perfect"
the 1st time i play rainbow six on psp i was totally lost of what to do. however soon i was like running all over the place, not to mention killing people while running.

it good to strategies your playing, play games like call of duty is not all about emptying your gun. some guns need slow shooting like press 1 sec shoot button then release the button to get back aiming. then you repeat process

however if you are not having fun in the game it still bette not to play the game

honestly, play to play. just let your mind go numb into the game. you would be surprised of what may happen. I used to think that I was horrible at games, but the day after my girlfriend cheated on me with another girl I numbed myself by playing Halo and sniped my friend all the way across an outdoor map with an unzoomed rocket launcher. Really didn't help me with the problem I had at hand, but might help you realize that it's not all skill. Just play.
