I know some people want to create their own imageboard, but don't know how to. So I went and created a site where anyone can create a board with a click of a button. The site's pretty new.
Once you create a site, you'll be admin/mod of it to do whatever you want.

A word of advice: Running a free service is really fucking expensive and will take a lot of time, too, as well as eating up your sanity. Are you truly up to it? The chances are pretty great that you'll call this experiment off within a few weeks when you find out what running a free service really takes. Good luck, though.

What about a 2ch/4ch type of messageboard? Where could I learn about starting one?
I posted it on /b/ and most of the sites that are on it are from btards. I also went to the discussion boards for most imageboards and talked about my site there too. Even added my site to wikipedia(lol >_>).

The only problem so far is how to get new users to the site. I definitely don't want to spam the actual image boards(I did make 2 4chan /b/ threads though). I don't feel that bad making post on the discussion boards though, since it seems more personal that way.
There's something about this that doesn't sit quite right with me. On paper it might be a good idea, but I can see a lot of potential for it to turn into a jumbled mess like that danbooru thing. The ideal of small groups of friends grouping around boards with specific subjects could lead to a multitude of tiny closed-off communities/cliques, eventually each with its own duplicate set of general interest sub-boards, meaning less chance for growth of a snowballing overarching culture a la 2ch/futaba. With this plus the option of hidden boards, you're leaving yourself open to lots of bad stuff like racism and cp. It also seems to have stopped working all of a sudden.
If wakachan links to it the links would probably be to individual boards instead of the site as a whole.
i realize that part, but it's no good to worry about stuff like that, especially if it has a chance to never happen. If things do get bad, I'll think up of ways to solve it.

no, as long as there's at least one post there. But I will write code later that will auto-delete any boards where no post has been created for the past 3 months on that board.
Is there a way to change boards from work safe to not worksafe or the other way around?
I can write code for it, but you can always just delete your own board and recreate it.

This is really neat. I've been wanting to make an image baord for awhile but everytime I get to it I'm overwelmed in trying to understand it.

Segaholics Anonymous is a place for Sega and arcade fans to post stuff and hang out. I encourage anyone to come by and post some stuff to get the ball rolling.
This requires two things:
Futaba skin.
The ability for admins to edit as much of the layourt as possible. That includes no "anonIB" in big font. You can just put "hosted by anonib.com" at the bottom because the only people who care will look there.
I'm working on letting board admins change the layout, but it's freakishly complicated. Changing CSS file isn't hard to do. But TPL files are hard.
I'll probably work on a way to do it in the next couple of days. No promises though, it looks like I'll have to change the database tables in order to do it.
Also, I didn't think the anonib font at the top was a problem. I've been looking at that thing so long, I stopped reading it whenever I move from board to board. But the anonib at the top corner lets people remember the site.
IMO the AnonIB in the titlebar is okay but the big large text in the page itself is bloody annoying.

What would someone need to know to start/design any type of website in general. I know nOthing of scripting or coding but am willing to learn. Are there any sites or books that offer very easily understandable ways of teaching all that needs to be known? The only experience I had was copying HTML back when people still used myspace.
