Where do you look for friends on the Internet?

I'm 18 now, I used to love chatting to people from everywhere and find people with similar interests easily but the places I used to go to either died down or the age range is still the same (around 14). I find them boring.

Do you have friends online? How did you meet them? etc.etc.

I know some replies will say gtfo the Internet and meet real people or something but I'm interested in talking to people and ignoring them when I don't want to talk to them. I don't want to meet people here, they're britfags.

Pretty much everyone I "know" online, I know through the IRC channels of websites I've visited or had a hand in.

Even after the websites/groups/etc die (or at least to us), we usually still hang around in the channels.

Honestly, I don't really have that many 'friends' online anymore, either. When I was younger, it was just a random happenstance of winding up at a particular chatroom and talking to people... but like you said, the places would eventually fold. Nowadays, I mostly hang out either here or 4chan, and the anonymous nature of these sites makes it difficult to form anything other than a loose association with one's fellow members. Probably why I'm a tripfag over there - it helps. :)

I do have a few people I consider friends on some of the various *chan-related IRC channels.
