Recommend me a breed of cat.

A liger.

It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.

Go to the shelter and adopt a cat based on personality instead of breed :(

Absolutely right.
Get a friendly cat, not a certain type of cat.

just feed them off the steet,
cats are loyal to food supply so you'll find the same faces many times.
just keep far away from cat-hating creatures like dogs and certain landlords

I got a shelter cat, but still screwed up.

What's funny is that I went to the shelter looking for an older, sedate cat that would fit my lifestyle, and wound up with a 6-month old fireball because he was pretty. I love the looks of the Bengal cats, but couldn't justify spending $600-800 on a cat, and this guy had similar marbleized markings. :( I'm actually looking to 'trade in' with my aunts (a bunch of unmarried 'cat ladies') and get one that won't spend all evening spazzing out and getting in the way.

Maine Coon are the prettiest in my opinion...

...but yeah, it rally all comes down to personality.
