sleeping with friends of the opposite sex? (24)

How normal is it?
Is it normal to sleep with a friend of the opposite sex? How do you feel about it?

Does sleeping with a friend of the opposite sex entail any interest from either side? or can it be completely platonic - where there is no interest beyond friendship?

I'd like to know what you think, but if you could, i'd also like to know what culture you identify yourself with.

I'm looking forward to your answers.

oh btw i'm probably in between the american and asian culture (southeast)..

And yes, I think if you sleep with the opposite sex, there's more than 80% chance that either side has feelings - or potential feelings - for the other.

Fuck off, fag.

There's only two reason you should be sleeping with a girl.

1) You're gonna bang her that night.
2) You've already banged her.

There's no such thing as platonic sleep-overs. If someone says they want to sleep with a friend of the opposite sex, they almost certainly have feelings, even if they deny it.

Also I'm from rural Northeast US.

Now this I think is muddled thinking.
Especially the "platonic" part. That two people would want to fuck each other is one thing, but why must you people always attach vague terms like "feelings" into the formula? I always say there is no such thing as platonic love, and I stand by that. The dualistic notion of romantic and platonic love is spawned from the need to bind together sex and marriage (or sex and love) two completely different and often incompatible concepts. Love is all about intimacy and understanding, sex is all about exoticism, personal distance, and maybe danger; the thrill of the unknown.

And then people wonder why married couples get bored of each other.

So two friends, regardless of their sex may want to sleep together, it probably DOES mean they "have feelings" for each other, does that mean they want to fuck each other? Not necessarily, and why should it?

You find some other way to sort out your penises and vaginas, but please stop confusing sex and love.

I forgot to mention that when I say "sleep with" I meant it to mean "sleep in the same bed as a person without any sexual contact" So basically I have the same idea as you.

Two people can have sex without any romantic interest in each other. Sure. But if a guy says he wants to sleep in the same bed as a girl, he's just trying to get in pants. There's no need for you to sleep in the same bed as a person who is just a friend.

Wow, thanks for answering, you people. I'm new to this and my first response wasn't very nice it kinda scared me off.

I guess in a way my question could be reworded to say "is there such a thing as platonic love between a male and a female", since I've heard discussions and debates about it so many times I don't know what to think and worried that my mind has become confused by all the arguments.

haha

You shouldn't take Anonymous there seriously, he's a scoundrel, you should avoid him.

And as to your question yes there is, but today's culture conflates love and sex in such a way that makes it difficult to find. The closest thing might be love of fathers for their daughters or mothers for sons. We consider that "platonic" because of the Westermark Effect, but I always thought that was bull. Love is love, don't complicate it.

So in theory yes, but in practice it's hard to find because of what >>7 said

Ted Rea of Shattuck is trying to get his baby that was concieved by him raping a girl while she was drugged and passed out. I dont think any rapist should have any right to a baby that was concieved by rape. The baby has a good home and doesnt beed to be in the hands of a rapist and drugie.

I think so. I have sleepovers with my best male friend all the time, and neither of us have ANY feelings for each other all the time. Mind you, he's gay, but still. I still think it's possible though. I've had sleepovers with other guys and it's totally platonic. No sex, no pressure.

I can only sleep with a girl after I've dated her and know for the most part that we're on completely Platonic terms with one another. Otherwise I'll be trying my damnedest to seduce them.

I sleep with my ex-girlfriend all the time. Of course we don't tell anyone, but it's completely platonic and we respect that.

Hi there!

I sleep in the same bed as my best friend when I go over to visit him. It is purely platonic, we have been friends since we were 12 and have no history. I think it is okay if you have been friends for years and nothing ever happened. I would also like to point out that we are both in relationships and I cleared it with my bf.

I hope that helps.

Christine.

Ted Rea of Shattuck Oklahoma raped a girl in California also and got away with it. He knows how to drug women and rape them and by the time they figure out what he did to them its to late. He always chooses girls that talk to him a lot so that he can say that they were seeing each other.

23 Name: Anonymous : 2013-05-01 21:22 ID:t0A0egbq

Ted Rea from Shattuck Oklahoma, it pretty shitty of you to only let the mother of your kid that was conceived by you raping her while she was out see the kid if she cleared your name. It's pretty bad, now we know why you took the baby Kyzer from his adopted parents. It was only to clear your name of rape. You knew the mother would want to see Kyzer or Cruz you named him, someday and that's why you wanted him. You should have let Kyzer had a good home and family instead of using him to clear your name as a rapist. We all know your still a rapist and the mother just wanted to see Kyzer.
