Would someone please explain to me what the hell is wrong with using proper grammar and punctuation? I admit that once in a while I don't capitalize or use apostrophes in IRC, but when I'm typing on a BBS, I always do my best to use my best spelling and grammar.
sometime i re read the post before i posted it, but i don't really care about the grammar though...

Are you suggesting that those with girlfriends are less likely to write correct sentences and thus lead to the downfall of English?

No, I think he/she suggests that internet/BBS = serious business that should not be taken lightly.
In other words, If you get upset over someone typing "wrong" on the internet you should take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself why you fail so much.

Not really any worse than using standard abbreviations, in a colloquial setting. It comes largely from novels, where that usage is pretty common. Semantically speaking, there's not really any ambiguity to it either. In a formal setting like a court statement it might be considered sloppy, but I doubt it matters anywhere else.
I manage to properly use grammar and such while typing. Sometimes when I'm typing in a hurry I'll not bother to use proper punctuation, and I always have proper spelling except for basic typing mistakes when, again, I'm in a hurry and cannot proofread normally. It bothers me when smart people spell words wrong and don't care about it.
