Creating electronic music - Not enough attention span to read manual, fucked around for about an hour in fruity loops and got fed up with it.
Standard Musical Instrument - Tried Keyboard and Recorder. I'm not coordinated musically also it didn't appeal to me for some reason.
I tried Aikido for about a year or more. I eventually gave up because it was just too hard, and I couldn't learn it no matter how hard I tried, and I wasn't enjoying it. Martial arts really just aren't for me.
Art - Didn't have any skill and didn't want to learn how to improve.
Video Gaming - Basically the same thing as the OP.
> last paragraph Am I fucked? Y/N?
You sound somewhat like me. You don't need social hobbies, as long as you spend time with others, even just talking or sharing a meal. Most importantly with family.
Photography - Finding anything interesting to photograph was extremely hard for me. Also, I absolutely hate being photographed myself, so I just couldn't make myself take photos of other people.
Digital illustration - I couldn't concentrate on the big picture and ended up endlessly polishing irrelevant small details.
logic - realized it was best studied in the context of something practical such as math, programming or physics
programming - realized it was a tool for corporate technicians
Kickboxing.
Keyboard/Guitar.
Graphics.
Anything related to computer programming.
Art - Got bored of it after taking an art class where all the kids drew Dragonball Z characters.
Computer, video, and conventional Games. Just about all games. For some reason though I still play, I've never built up any skill. So I really suck even after all this time. Still fun though, but frustrating.
(;_;)
Is compulsive masturbation a hobby?
I feel your pain. Years of gaming and I still can't get past the beginning of any game without concerted effort and steel resolve.
Give up gaming.
All that wasted time could be better spent learning music, sports, social games, gambling, fighting, or building up an alcohol tolerance.
Fun hobbies that also happen to also be somewhat useful in everyday life.

Who are you to decide that video gaming is a less legitimate hobby than all the others? Video gaming develops hand-eye coordination, reaction time, concentration, problem-solving skills, and communication/team skills. Get off your high horse.
>>15
I decided for myself; that's all that matters.
I have the right to do so, and failed hobbies are what this thread is about.
>>16
I lol'd because everything you said is so true
behold the power of practicality vs. theory
Drawing - what to draw? Another furry? Happy days before I actually knew what furry is all about... Stoped abruptly after learning the truth :) Drawing anime style characters just isn't any fun to me anymore. Drawing anything else even less.
Martial Arts - too much work
Programming - too boring
Sport - I ended up in a fat lazy lump
Model Railroad - My money ran out.. now its unfinished an standing in the basement
Piano - to difficult
Warhammer. Bought an army, painted it, discovered there was no one in my town to play with.
Piano, cello, violin. Schoolwork took priority.
Martial Arts - I'm too poor. Maybe when I'm wealthier.
Piano - My fingers are too short. I can't reach the notes!D:
Musical instruments - Recorder (Ha, Fourth grade), Violin (Twice!), Piano, Guitar. I still enjoy Violin, but I am merely mediocre and not devoted enough to really get into it.
Model building - Too obsessive for me. I can't fathom how people manage to build those damn things with parts smaller then half a pinky-nail size.
Skatebording - I smoke
Drawing - I smoke
Making Chainmail
It started good, and I made decent progress. But the repeated wrist twisting became too much. I think my wrists have been fucked ever since.
>>26 welcome to the rest of your life! I have the same problem, games and typing did mine in. I also have tennis-elbow from work. I'm only 24, if I live to be 55, FUCK. Hopefully they'll still have something to relieve pain then.
Don't worry son, morphine will still be around.
Sounds even better.
magic card tricks:
just lost interest. plus i'm not much of a showman.
drawing comics:
model gun : prohibited
motorcycle modification : banned by parents, and got sold T_T
motorcycle racing : see above
car modification : not enough fund
Guitar = Broke a string and broke the replacement, so I gave up.
Watercolour = Inability to cover up mistakes annoyed me.
Electronic Music = Too many buttons, so I gave up :<

maaaaaaan, I'm 20 and I have the same problems. Both my wrists sometimes go very weak that I can't grasp anything. That's actually the reason I quit learning bass guitar.
> Both my wrists sometimes go very weak that I can't grasp anything.
Otakuness
Swing dancing: I had a pretty good thing going until all the dance nights in my area got cancelled.
Uhh. MMORPGs, I guess. I've been for ~1 year without them and have started actually investing time in other hobbies.
Being social
Y
Me: Being normal/social
Well you can guess why that failed.
Playing the guitar, I could never get it in tune, with or without the help of teh interwebs ^^;
You people suck. You gave up on things and then posted about them on the internet.
Personally, the only hobbies I "gave up" on were due to not having enough time. Most of them I re-pick up from time to time, but doing so little and only every now and then doesn't help me improve them much.
I feel driving motorcycles is fun, so I think that's my hobby.
I ride my motorcycle about 25 minutes for a month, only sunny, warm day.
I think it's OK, because I feel it is fun.
The hobby I gave up was making fun of people like >>42
OP - you sound way too lazy. Too lazy to do drugs? Come on.
Only hobby I've ever give up on was the Violin.
I already play guitar and bass, but the £30 Violin I bought was so shit it couldn't stay in tune for more than 5 minutes at a time. Took about half an hour to re-tune it. So getting half an hour's practice often took me half the day. Fuck that.
I just tried getting close to a girl. I ended up hurting myself by all the possible things she could have been holding against me instead of how she probably really felt. It's the third day I've hung out with her, but I already know that I'll never be successful with a girl. It's Asperger's, seriously. I've always been terrible with real people.
Agreed. Getting with girls is only a hobby if you are a PUA.
Or a serial killer.
>>42 What you describe is the real why most shounen manga sucks. With the exception of a few gems (like Gintama) they're all the same fucking story just with different settings.
Such are my hobbies.
Soccer- I never had much passion for it, but the ability to show off my superior fitness to my nerdy group of friends was a big plus. As I progressed in the soccer level skills, people got more arrogant and less intelligent, so I gave up. I still have very good stamina from all my days running on the field, which is a plus.
MMORPG's- Ran out of money, it was fun tho, untill peoole would give you shit for wanting to leave after 9 hours. I have shit to do, sorry, find another mage bitch tits.
General gaming- It was ok, but my husband hogs the system.
Masturbating - I'm married now.
Art, definitely. When I was a kid, I wanted to draw, I loved to draw. But then I saw how weird my drawings looked like, and I never wanted to draw again.
>>54
Easy now, he obviously hasn't been married very long.
Owning a pet rock.
About a year ago, I decided I wanted a pet rock. I made it a house and everything. Then I got very bored of it (as you can imagine).
Worst hobby ever.
Skateboarding: Car + Pedestrian = disaster
Bass guitar: I ended up reverting back to electric guitar
Fencing: It was way back in middle school and now restarting takes money. Pantloads.
Cello: No musical aptitude, and no beginners classes were available at the time. I had to try and keep up with Intermediate/Advanced students within a few weeks, and it took almost a month before someone noticed I wasn't holding my instrument right.
