How do I stop being addicted to social media websites? I constantly feel like I need to provide for my followers.

I could, but I always feel the need to come back.

>And what exactly do you post/upload/whatever for your followers?

In short, stolen content.

I abandoned my (3k followers+) twitter two years ago, and I find the additional free time extremely liberating, though I feel very guilty when I come across former friends in other parts of the internet. Maybe I'll take it up again, if I end up with a lot of free time.

stay on imageboards, find something more than 4chan

4chan is still social media, and I'm a serious addict. Actually, I've configured uMatrix to block all images served by 4chan so that it's like a text board. Combined with a filter that blocks 60-70 posts on my favorite board at any given moment, it actually works kind of convincingly. I'm actually so deep down the rabbit hole I bought a 4chan pass. Honestly, it's not that bad. Using a 4chan pass means that I can browse 4chan on Emacs on w3m, which is more than I can say for 4-ch, thanks to that captcha, and it's an incredibly nice experience. w3m can even render images. On top of Avy (hinting plugin for Emacs), it's pretty comparable to my 4chan experience on Firefox, minus the filters and userscripts.

It's really funny, in my years using the Internet, I've somehow managed to reduce my browser experience through various tweaks and userscripts I've found/written into something that, at least at a superficial level, is an experience that's pretty comparable to w3m. Of course, I wouldn't do my banking on w3m.

Also, I remember there was a userscript floating around meant to augment various image boards like Wakachan (RIP) similarly to the way 4chanX does with 4chan. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
