I can't think of any really ugly languages.
I think Mandarin sounds fucking awesome, they have so many different sounds it's like a fucking awesome thing.

All the singsong-like (going up and down in tone) languages are very disconcerting to me. They are not ugly per se, but somehow I can't seem to take what is said in those languages seriously.
Examples: Icelandic, Cantonese.

I find that most Chinese dialects sound like the speaker has a mouth full of mush.

Nothing wrong with it, but I can't say I like it.

Dutch fits the bill pretty well, especially with all the "g" sounds. I've not listened to German nearly as much, but I'm pretty sure it's about as ugly as Dutch.

Any language that has a word like "Fluß" To describe a river isn't ugly IMHO.

Or "schlecht" to describe something bad. It's like it sounds like what it is!

I'd rather listen to an hour of German than an hour of Italian.

I like languages with strong "R" sounds.

I don't find mandarin nor french aesthetic at all.

Scottish Gaelic.

Khmer has one of my favorite sound systems. Great, kind of improbable consonant clusters, interesting glottal stops, neat/weird vowels.

Well Mandarin's got some of the best hard, guttural English-style R's I can think of.

>>6 Dutch is actually O.K to listen to, as long as the speaker isn't speaking too fast (As they seem to do on every radio station)

I hate German, and Spanish.

Jesus, they just sound... Bad.

I think Cantonese sounds cooler than Mandarin personally.

Portuguese is nice. I'd rather Portuguese than Spanish or French. British English is nice, too. (Cellar door!)

Korean is pretty hard to listen to.

Brazilian, or European? I like Brazilian a lot better, personally. Much more sibilant. Portuguese Portuguese is too clipped.

I think someone already nominated Turkish, but I second that. Really pretty.

Are you people kidding me?! Spanish is by far one of the nicest/prettiest languages out there!

You people must be listening to people who speak it wrong or people that live in a part where they have a terrible Spanish accent!

... Please don't put Spanish with German in the "Ugly Languages" category! German is a language that is far more "rough" than Spanish...

Arabic sounds very ugly to me. Too many guttural sounds.

Personally I love Frisian - it's kinda like a blend of Dutch and English and if you're not listening carefully it could sound like either one!

I love clicking languages, particularly Xhosa - some people find the clicks jarring but when they're combined with such a rich vowel inventory they become irresistible.

There are also some quite beautiful dialects of Hungarian, though their names escape me right now...

Also greetings...this is my first post on 4ch.

French sounds cool imo.. But I don't think I'll ever lern it. And I also love Japanese. English too and I absolutely love the Australian accent.
What I don't like's German and Cantonese..

Australian accent and australian slag get on my nerves.

I vote for Turkish.

Turkish accents are hot. I find Turkish girls strangely attractive. I think it's their voice.

Another vote for Brazilian Portuguese. It's like all the nicest parts of the Romance languages combined.

Here's nominating English. Except for those far-out, hillbilly style. Those should be put out an airlock at the earliest opportune moment.

I also like Latin, the way I speak it (Me? Narcissistic? Never!). German, when spoken by a native, is surprisingly more beautiful than expecting. Russian, also, is a very nice language.

The list of speaks to abominate includes Spanish ("Hello, I've got breathing issues"), Danish ("Hello, I've got a hot potato in my yap") and German, as spoken by a non-proficient student "KHello, I eKKsaGGarate all my KHarSCH VVowels.")
