and mabye, the girl might even like you? it depends on your relationship with the girl whos asking you in question. she a close friend? or she just an acquaintence?

Sometimes it is conversation but usually she is checking out who she might be competing with or if she has a chance. I used to do this with boys that I liked but as I am a bit older now I have found less obvious ways of finding out who likes who.

Sometimes I'll ask for curiousity, but it's also a somewhat clumsy method of finding out if you're "free".

I think asking so plainly is kind of rude. If a girl asked me that and I was a guy I would tell her, "it certainly is not you!" I have this horrible image of a chubby blond asking a boy "so, who do ya like?" and poking him in the stomach as he weakly tries to make her go away.

Who also uses that as a way of making conversation? I would start talking about the weather before using that!

thats really happened to me. she was just a stupid bitch trying to make conversation so she wouldnt feel bad that she was only using me to fix her computer and passing it off that i was her "friend", fucking bitch

IF YOU DON'T LIKE HER IN THAT WAY, SAY YES, YOU DO.

I HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE AND I ASURE YOU THAT IT WORKS.

Shes asking for herself or for someone else.

If shes asking for herself, shes asking you non-directly if you like her. If shes asking for someone else, she is trying to set you up.

I am not sure if non-avoidance is the best route. If you're not interested in anyone, let her know. Otherwise I'd ask why she is asking and see if you can gauge her purpose through that route. :)

I had a girl a liked ask me this dreaded question. I believe it is almost as bad as 'do I look fat in this?'

Possible scenerios.
1) You like her
2) You like who she is asking for
3) You like someone else
4) You like no one

a) She is asking for herself
b) She is asking for a friend
c) She wants to help hook you up

1a, 2b, 3c, 4c would work well, 4a/b and 1c would not be horrible
The rest would not work out well.

I ended up saying no one in particular because I think she was asking for a friend that I was not interested in who I had recently spent a decent amount of time with. Alas, I do not think I will ever know for sure though.

if a girl asks you a question, you should (maybe) answer it ..and listen to/for her response.

if a the same girl asks you the same question several times (like your question implies) then... she has a poor memory and doesn't remember if she has had sex with you yet, or ever.
