Christian girl (48)

Alright, so I met this girl about 3 weeks ago at a pool I frequent to train for swimteam. She's really nice, and I'm positive she's into me, so if I wanted to get her, I could easily do so. We've been meeting every day and we just hang out and laugh/swim together. I'm going to the movies with her tomorrow, which gives me the oppertunity to perhaps try to get into something more serious with her.

My question really comes from this: She's a Christian. I can't really tell if she's a fundie or is lax about her beliefs, but I was wondering what advice /love/ would give me on the situation. Is it worth getting with some girl who you might/might not get anything out of? Thanks guys.

>some girl who you might/might not get anything out of

That is true of any girl...
Christian girls are just that way because of their family. They aren't any different from other girls. But if you're just looking for a loose girl, they come in all kinds.

OP here...

What I meant by "might/might not get anything out of" was anything more than holding hands. I've dated super-Christian girls before who thought it was a sin to even hug. I got out of that relationship fast.

Just talk to her. You should be able to get a jist of what she likes and doesn't like and then compare them to fundi or lax christian beliefs. also try touching nonsexually. for example, when you open a door put your hand on her lower back and just gently guide her through the doorway.

Leave that nice girl alone. She's too good for you.

my gf is christian too, though shes not all fundy but she is kinda on and off on being physical beyond hugging and holding hands. We both believe in saving sex for marriage though, and she could very well be the girl I propose to in the future, nothing for certain though....what religious background do you come from? Try talking about it, you'll learn more about her and might get her more interested in you.

just ask her about things that you might think maybe a major obstacle in building a relationship with her, steer your conversation to current events, works best in picking out people's opinion.

>>Christian girls are just that way because of their family.

Because there is no chance in hell that she's a believer because of her own free will, amirite?!

Not every Christian is a bush-supporting fundamentalist retard.

You sound like a retard. The only problem with Bush is that he's not conservative ENOUGH. Second Fundamentalism is good because it ensures a clean lifestyle. If you can't hack it then move on.

A nice girl is a hard descision. I mean very nice girls do have dirty sides to them. But if you really like her, I'm guessing it wouldn't really matter.

16 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-08-15 19:25 ID:Ek6pR/+o

The best way would probably be to find out about her beliefs before you go any further, maybe you could steer a conversation into it by mentioning your own beleifs?

You all can't handle the truth.

That girl is too good for him. She's going to Heaven when she dies and he's going to Hell.

But whatever, I'm going to Valhalla

There's no such thing :)

And if anything, you'll be caught in a universe where time has no meaning, where you are forced to do battle against the battletoads for all eternity.

Who give a fuck about hell, he is trying to get the girl not salvation. I know plenty of christians and most are not uber religious, even ones who say they are. I know one couple who go to church every week, bible study, camps, are good friends with the pastor, but when we are out the guy can't keep his hands off of her ass. So have faith, you can certainly get her, if you play your cards right. As for me, I am trying to go after a muslim girl...and I might as well quit because I will have no chance.

>>21 you live in the EU or in the US? (or maybe Tehran?)

I am asking to calculate the probability that you will be stabbed/beaten up/castrated/otherwise mutilated by her brother and his friends. Leaving islam is punished by death penalty. Or maybe you want to be muslim? Anyhow, an unequal coupling might also be a dishonour to the family. whatever.

Maybe you're lucky and she has a mega-tolerant family.

I am astounded by your understanding of Islam, professor.

Leaving islam is punished by death? In that case my atheist friend would have been long dead. And oh my, her family must be so fake for not minding that one of her two brothers is gay and has been living with his partner for the past four years :-p Jeez people, don't make me think that mankind is doomed to horribly die from stupidity.

>>4 says wise things, though I know a lot of girls who would have gotten annoyed at them being "guided" through a door, while as none mind getting the doors getting opened for them by someone who's in front of them.

EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT SHIT THAT ISN'T RELEVANT TO THE THREAD PLEASE.

Thank you!

That said: proceed in pursuing a relationship, but do so cautiously. When you encounter a barrier, push it, but just a little; not too much as to disrespect her beliefs, but enough to test the waters. If she /is/ uptight, get out. If she's not, have fun.

And masturbate before your dates.

26 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-08-16 07:56 ID:4wRkQyA4

At least she won't cheat on you if she is real about Christianity. Look at it that way.

27 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-08-16 08:54 ID:vXQ5g5kk

IMO, >>4 is on the right track. Getting to know her and/or asking about it is the only way to really find out, as there are both lax and strict people for any religion.

Heh, my parents are rather lax muslims, who pretty much believe that anyone should choose whatever religion they want to or don't want to follow.

So my older sister stopped following it during high school, and became atheist, and I'm just not sure. I'm not really ready for religion.

I'm not worried, as a christian. If she's christian by heart you can't fool her into anything indecent, if she's only christian by name it doesn't really matter if you screw her over, because then she's already screwing herself over. In fact, it might be a wakeup-call for her. But for your own sake you should mind other people more than your own crotch, if sex is a big deal to her, why go after her when there are plenty of other females who are into casual sex with random partners? If so, fullfill your unhinged bodily needs elsewhere.

Op here...

>>And masturbate before your dates.

What if I get lucky, though? I wouldn't want to not be able to perform. Unless you think that the less horny you are the better.

Thoughts, anybody?

30 Name: 22 : 2006-08-16 18:53 ID:1Rt2wmgE

ok.. 'calculate' was the wrong word. I hope it is just the people here in 4ch that freak out over every comment without really knowing what the comment actually sais. so... no, I wasn't out to call islam an incorrigibly murderous faith of terrorists... at all. But what I said does happen, albeit more often in rural areas in underdeveloped countries....

Let's just say I was trying to overcharge on some tendencies in Islam. I apologize if I insulted someone. Fortunately, from the above statements I think the most vehement comments came from people who know least about Islam ;)

Anyway. For the sake of peace, I am not religious. So no need to bash on christianity or atheism (which is not the same as not religious)

masturbate before your dates? I think that'll gross them out. Plus, I have a hard time getting even one date!

Right and wrong are a matter of perspective; you can justify anything with the proper experience to back up your conclusion/choice.

"Love" is a chemical reation whithin the brain that is associated with various stimuli. Love is not a force or an aura. It is just your brain going "Hey, thats my allocated mating source. Lets tap that ass and spread some genetic material so I can get a buzz"

Christianity is a load of bullshit because there is no empirical, testable evidence that god exists.

The only argument for god's existance is twisted retard logic, like "oh yah, well where did the universe come from HUH"

God of the gaps. There is a gap in our understanding so lets plug it with a god. God is a cheap plot device.

read here for moar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_the_Gaps

38 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-08-24 11:26 ID:1Rt2wmgE

empiricism is not all that great. It comes unnatural to humans, and who is to say that it covers everything that is important? All it does is to test the observable.

39 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-08-24 11:42 ID:3qzKzS50

41 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-08-24 17:35 ID:1Rt2wmgE

I think I agree with you. hey smartass, why don't you think of some field which empiricism can't touch and which is important to humanity nonetheless?

Its the first step in falsifying a theory that empiricism cannot be the salvation of humanity.

How are LOGIC, REASON, and THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD unnatural to humans? What do you consider "natural" for humans? How have you come to this conclusion? How do you decide somthing is "important"?
