All girls do not do that. There are just too many girls who are like that, but by no means all, or even close to all. At least not if you overview a larger group, and not just some "inbred" "incestous" drama group (not literally, obviously). Like the one a pal of mine hangs out at sometimes. Everyone has made out with everyone, wannabe-emos/goths, and the chicks apparently do not realize that everyone else trying to hook up with a certain single person (the one who is the latest fad in the group) is not a valid reason for trying to hook up with that person as well ("Ooh! Everyone is trying to get him?! That automatically means he's the most awesome bloke.. I MUST WIN HIM OVER TO PROVE THAT I AM THE MOST AWESOME CHICK!"). Shudder shudder. Horrible people. I'm glad I have nothing to do with them.

Too many incorrectly equate "jerk" with "has a spine", which is very untrue. Being able to stand up for oneself and what one believes in doesn't automatically include being a rude asshole. I've seen plenty of spineless jerks who were jerks to feed their own ego, to soothe the pains of not having a real spine.
