to date or to wait? (27)

I have a bit of a situation..I broke up with this guy about a month ago, saying that I didn't want a relationship and it was getting too hard to date him since my friends and family hated him. We had been dating on and off for 5 months, and by the end, I really didn't have feelings for him in the way that I used to. Now I'm thinking about dating someone else. Would it be awful of me to date the new guy now or should I wait? If so, for how long?

If you're over the guy you broke up with just go ahead and date the new guy.

3 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-12-22 01:01 ID:HZtO+IH/

Wouldn't it be bitchy of me? I don't want my ex to hate me..we're still friends.

It wouldn't be bitchy of you, it doesn't sound like your relationship was very serious. And anyways it's not your responsibility to not date someone because you're still friends with your ex. It should be obvious to him that you're going to date someone else. I wouldn't be suprised if he gets jealous, but if he does get jealous it probably won't matter how long you wait. Just date the guy!

Not to sound ungrateful for the advice, but I mean..I can't just go from "I'm breaking up with you because I don't want a relationship" to "Oh yeah, I completely lied about that cause I'm with someone else now!"

Interesting... keep us updated!

Well if that's the problem, you should have just told him the real reason you didn't want to be with him anymore. I don't see why people lie about their feelings. Why not just be honest and stop all the bullshit? If you don't want to be with someone because they don't interest you anymore, say that, instead of making up something up trying to protect someone's feelings. It worse to be lied to than told the truth.

But when I broke up with him, it was the truth! I didn't want to deal with all the drama, but I still liked him. A lot of things happened after that, and my feelings for him changed.

You are not still dating your ex-boyfriend, thus you can do whatever the fuck you want. Hell if you want to get pregnant by 12 midgets, go right ahead. The point is that your ex doesn't own you. If he has any problem with it, sucks to be him, it is your life do whatever you want to do.

Well, the midgets do sound intriguing...but thank you. I guess I just care too much about what people think of me. I'm pretty sure I will date him but not until winter break is over. No sense in being with someone if you're not physically with them right? ...right?

...That's really not something you should need to ask yourself if it's only a week or two...

when someone is asking for advice, it's usually because they don't know what they think is right. otherwise they wouldn't be asking for advice. capiche? or in english: lurk moar.

I think you're suggesting she do it sooner, rather than later, so the first guy can start getting over her?

If not, I don't know what you said.

She should forget about that guy and go for >>17.

[I think you're suggesting she do it sooner, rather than later, so the first guy can start getting over her?]

no. what i meant was that if she wait, the new guy may leave her(i would if i were him. coz for me, a girl just waiting to date me because of her previous guy is not good enough excuse to wait) , and he may be the best guy in the world.

That isn't bad advice... I agree. Despite what the guy may be like, you can't keep a person waiting forever.

Luke. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

Some things are worth waiting for.
