I would have to say that there's probably money involved, or other odd circumstances leading to such events. I mean, I often see attractive young Russian or Asian women hanging on the arms of old fugly and overweight guys, and you can literally see in their eyes, "x days until citizenship" or "How long is it going to take for this toad to croak?" There are some cases, where it is a matter of heart, an event occurred where an otherwise ugly guy's golden personality shines through, and strikes a woman's heart; for example if he saved her life by fighting off a grizzly bear, or saved her from a drunk assailant on a train.

It's interesting the Asian dating game. The duality of Asian sexuality affects the out-dating and in-dating ratios, and reasons. Asian women, by the media, are placed high. As a result, they can have any guy they pick. Early generational Asians tend, because of their upbringing in an Asian community, tend to prefer Asian males. However, with succeeding generations in non-Asian communities, they tend to out-date more and more, often expressing a preference for white males over Asian males. The reason for this is because of the reverse treatment of the Asian males predominantly. Asian males in the media are non-existent as sexual figures, with perhaps the exception of Bruce Lee, and that guy from Lost. As a result, Asian males only tend to have luck within their own community from early generational girls, and not much elsewhere. A lone exception, of course is from weeaboo girls, who have the girl equivalent of Yellow Fever anyways.
