making out & penile erection (11)

I've never kissed/made out with a girl before, but recently I've thought more and more about kissing:

  1. Is it normal for guys to get an erection when they're kissing/making out with a girl? Or is that rather weird and shouldn't happen? Could it be that it happens to inexperienced guys?
  2. Has it ever happened to you? If yes, did the girl notice and what was her reaction?
  3. Do you think it would creep out a girl if she noticed you got an erection from simply kissing/making out? Or is this a completely normal (and maybe even desired by the girl..?) reaction?

  1. yes, yes
  2. yes, she did a bit of that grinding thing
  3. depends on how old is she and if she's made out before.

  1. Is it possible, absolutely, is it standard, I wouldn't say that it's standard... No more standard than it is to get an erection just being alone with someone you're attracted to; It happens, but it's not like, automatic, or anything...
  2. Not when Kissing, but when alone w/ a girl, but she didn't notice... (Or was at least polite enough not to say anything)
  3. Depends on your relationship with the girl... If she's grossed out by anything sexual or whatnot already, or you don't know her that well, she might be like, "eww!", but if you knew her well already, or she wasn't bothered by it, she'd likely just giggle & tease you, and it might lead to something more intimate, depending on what she's like.

It's totally normal. It's more likely to happen when you're inexperienced and highly excited by the novel new experience of making out.

It has definitely happened to me. It's not weird at all.

My girlfriend's commentary on your post was
"In fact, I kind of find it flattering.
You think I'm sexy? Desirable? Great. Why would I be creeped out?"

But if the girl takes that attitude or not depends largely on her own experience. A blushing 14 year old might be startled and upset, whereas someone older is likely expecting it.

  1. Most of the men I've been involved with have gotten hard, at some point, while kissing. I don't see how it would be remotely weird-- if you're making out with someone, you're kind of indicating that you want to be physically involved with them. An erection is a pretty natural response to that. As far as its correlation to experience-- beats me. However, the first man I was in a relationship with was very experienced and, while he did seem to have more control, still would get an erection.
  2. N/A since, well, I'm female. It's pretty tough NOT to notice though. And, frankly, I'm flattered. I suppose it varies from girl to girl. But if some bitch is making out with you and REJECTS that she's just a damn cocktease.
  3. As said previously, I find it almost flattering as opposed to creepy but responses are relatively variable based upon experience, self confidence (in her own appearance, sexuality, etc.), and her trust for you. My mindset? "You think I'm sexy? Desirable? Awesome." Why would I be creeped out?

Thanks for the responses everyone! Now I have one less thing to worry about if it should happen one day. :)

I suffer the same problem as the op, but more severe. I sometimes get wood when merely talking to a girl, and it's really embarrassing in social situations, but I've become a master of hiding it...

however, kissing your prom date on the cheek shouldn't give you a raging throbbing erection
