Why are the current generation of girls so dull? (43)

1 Name: Secret Admirer : 2007-10-09 22:46 ID:nCRB+1F8

Seriously.

Why is it that these girls are so dull? Their taste is generally completely predictable (generic formulaic romantic comedies) until someone (usually a boyfriend) informs them that their taste is shit and proceed to redefine/shape them so they are able to look like they are something.

They are unable to convey their true views, opinions, or viewpoints in fear of rejection or judgement. How am I supposed to get to know you, if you say nothing? It's as if they fear becoming unique and you know having a real opinion.

I've tried to give you a chance but everytime your conversations are so vapid and predictable. If you want to talk psychology I can have you totally convinced if I can say a few words like "collective unconcious" or "jung". You fall into the same predictable trap every single time and it's BORING.

Why are you so afraid to try new things? Didn't you claim to be "open minded" and up for "new experiences"? Yet everytime I suggest an extremely entertaining experience or something that I know you will thoroughly enjoy because it transcends all genders, you refuse out of stubbornness to change.

WTF is wrong with you. Please become interested. Develop REAL interests. Stop working 2 jobs when you live with your parents so you can have that car which you get to show off to your friends which you believe will bring you happiness.

It's not going to make you happy and claiming you are "open minded" does not make you cool for the people who can see beyond your bullshit game.

/end rant

Hey now. Don't put all of us girls into one group. Sorry you ran into boring ones. =\

This is most girls in my experience. You just need to look around a bit more for the quality ones.

I've come across enough girls who are willing to stand their ground that I can't really agree with the OP

I have found a pattern in them. Usually those chicks who have older male siblings are far more interesting than chicks who only have sisters.

The guys of this generation are pretty dull too, honestly. I find very few really amazing guys out there.

This generation has so much to be thankful for, and have such great tasks ahead... yet look at us.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there, we pretty much fail. Both sides.

And although it sounds horrible, for us to really appriciate what we have, we need a war...or invading aliens. Just sayin' is all.

I don't understand what you guys mean by dull?

What else do you have to compare to? At what point in your life, were you able to go dating another generation? Unless you're a cougar or something ?_?

I don't know what you expect from men or women. Spontaneous trips to Africa? Some 90210 rich people stuff?

>>12 I know what they mean by dull. I just don't know what they mean by 'This generation'.

Every single generation has been as dumb as this one. In fact, over the years, each generation is supposedly getting smarter. The problem is, most of the members of 4-ch are intelectuals, and while most of us intelectuals don't think of ourselves as that smart, we do seem to be able to find stupid people left and center. We may only have a slightly above average IQ ranging from 110-130, but the fact is that, compared to the youth, we are the fucking intelectuals.

I'm just not getting the whole generation thing, or the gender thing. Go find yourself a smart chick that's your age or maybe slightly older. You can't have both lucious youth and inteligence, you know, and chances are that you can't find either.

You just need to look in the right places, either that or you're not looking deep enough into the person, Most girls at my school seem pretty dull, but when you get to know them, they won't seem as dull.

In other news... We all have different definitions of "dull". There are plenty of academics that have no common sense at all. Brain smarts don't always mean street smarts.

It has to do with a maturity level. I've found that 21 - 16 is a lot more mature than 17 - 20.

IQ doesn't mean shit. Some people have far greater social intelligence than me. I distinguish between "intellectual" and "social" intelligence.

Basically they have underdeveloped personalities because materialism is the leading philosophy of this generation. They seek happiness via material goods instead of getting to know their true personality and what they truly enjoy. For example when I ask a girl her beliefs I get a, "i dunno, astrology lol". They are completely apathetic and taking what is served to them by the media instead of seeking out alternatives that are better suited to their TRUE personality which they may or may not know.

>>20

EXACTLY. I'm book smart, but throw me out into the streets, and I would be immediately lost and hopeless.

I'd rather have common sense than have intellectual sense (probably because I have no common sense whatsoever)... But it's different for everyone I guess. I want common sense, because I don't have any...

I hate the media. I can't turn on the TV without hearing about some celebrity's divorce and some other scandal. I'm sick and tired of watching blonde chicks (any chicks for that matter) flaunt their children around and talk about random scandal #20754. But apparently, it sells, so that's how it goes I guess.

22 Name: Secret Admirer : 2007-10-13 15:00 ID:sOyhZ5OT

they're dull because they are affected by an environment which generally favours and encourages dullness.
Thankfully, there are some women who aren't like that, it's just that we're few and far between. good luck lol

It's been that way since ~1950, at least in the USA.
The reasons why that's the way it is... are quite frightening.

no such thing

You know, it works the other way, too. I'm tired of seeing stupid guys. Then I find some smart ones and they're so geeked out that they're afraid to talk. Truly, what the hell.

As for girls, I can certainly say that in the south girls were not raised to be intellectual, or even to be moderately good at conversation. They are raised to get married, and they have so little ambition that it scares me.

I'm so moving to Europe.

Scandinavian male here, just letting you know guys/girls here aren't much better.

The girls are also liars, they say they don't mind geeky, then you tell them just the slightest thing with a geek factor and suddenly they're analing in public with some sunburned Spanish dumbass who learned to play guitar for its pussy value.

The guys are either into gaming or football. End.

26 Name: Lolz : 2007-10-13 22:02 ID:X+r1d6Oj

Aw jeese, and I was really looking forward to hitting the UK...

I think these girls have a false sense of what geeks are. They probably--as do girls here--equate it with playing a lot of video games and maybe watching anime (or TV in general). I know a lot of retards that do that, but the geeks I've known have favored more creative things like RPing, comics, literature... even programming. Nice things.

>and suddenly they're analing in public with some sunburned >Spanish dumbass who learned to play guitar for its pussy value.

Sucks for you, man.

Your problem is not very complicated. If you find the people around you dull (does this really only concern the girls around you?), then you are looking for dates in the wrong place.

Define what is un-dull. What do people who are not dull do? Where can they do it? Go there to meet them! In this internet age, you can only blame yourself for not finding where interesting people are hanging out!

If doing art is un-dull to you, go to art classes, expos, events, travels. If it's politics, idemque.

Now, if you do not know what's an un-dull person, you have a problem.

Also, in general there is a phase in one's development where one thinks everybody else is stupid. Later one learns to identify what people are smart at, and not only stupid at. Everyone has plenty of both.

hmm... I dunno, I' used to materialistic girls. They're anything but boring where I am, but I'm not exactly Mr. Excitement myself. They're pretty pen to good anime and books, and can accept that being good with computers or actually comprehending how to use said devices doesn't automatically mean you're an automatic failure in the romance department.

I dunno, maybe I live in Geek's Utopia?

36 Name: Secret Admirer : 2007-10-22 23:56 ID:XOuaROBN

If I may interject, I think your problem is that you're seeking out the wrong people.

To begin with, what is attracting you to these 'dull girls'? If you knew them before you asked them out, you'd already be familiar with their dullness capacity, and might be able to avoid these kinds of experiences. It sounds like you're picking random people off the street - and thus, you don't know very much about them, except their name and what they look like. Herein lies your problem.

Undoubtedly, you probably pick out girls you find to be attractive physically. What we, as people, find to be indicators of physical attractiveness are set by our society; and as mentioned earlier in this thread, our society is very materialistic. A materialistic society breeds materialistic girls, right? It breeds men who value girls who appearances matches what society selects, as well. What I'm trying to say is, a materialistic society -> men who like girls who adhere to that standard -> girls who adhere to that standard and cultivate their appearances, but not much else. I'm not trying to say that you're wrong for liking someone based on appearance, but considering the current social climate, don't be suddenly mortified if the girls you pick are dull.

I'm also not saying that it's impossible to find a pretty girl who is smart and entertaining, but I do think you should broaden your horizons. I know that while I'm not a supermodel nor a horrible potato beast, I do keep an open mind and try to be as personable and interesting as my mind allows, because my appearance is not amazing. That's not to say that all homely girls are super-interesting geniuses, but I think it's a safe shot to say it's more likely. Or, try to make friends with girls before dating them, so you know how dull they really are.

And if I completely misjudged you, I apologize.

Maybe it's that girls are shaped by the boys that are closest to them- much like we slowly change from the girls that are closest to us. I guess you can change these "dull girls" and... yeah.

May I agree with that opinion of this entire generation is getting dull. I think the problem is not the much books you read or the much common sense you have. I think it's simply this generation has no reference to his inner space: averuthing is out there, but nothing inside. The socially accepted behavong pushes you (in some way, of coarse) to worry not about you, but about your pertenences and abilityes of dominating the reality. They even said "stop contemplating reality, now we have to transform it", and this thought aplies not just to marxist, but liberals to. Both sides of the same coin. This marked the begining of tha change: the world is not to contemplate but to transform it and, of coarse, as you don't contemplates the world, you are not able to know yourself, because the one that knows the world, notice itself is knowing and in the same act knows himself (havn't noticed yet?).

And by contemplating I never meant stay stupidly looking towards the infinite sea. I mean, you can do that, but it's not just the physical position you get. Don't mean to read haundred of books. To someone will be enough with just one. Is the spiritual disposition toward everithing is araund you. Doesn't matter how you get it: maybe with a conversation, maybe paying attention to a teacher in your ordinary classes. The point is to pay attention tho what the things are, how people is, everything may be the excuse to star admiring this world.

Attending to the departure point, I can say I'm very affortunate never had a dull chick for more than 30 minutes besides me. I was able to make an excuse ;)... actually I have so interesting female friends.

This is the "how to" part. And it's simple, when you start looking at the world the way I say you, you be aware even the most dull person can be interested in some details. The point is you need to know yourself to be able to know other people and show them what they will love. That way, for sure -if they are not narrow mindend- youll find in every one the smart people we all have inside.

As Plato said: "know yourself" :P
