In military--don't wan't wife to cheat (16)

Ok so I am in the Air Force and starting March '08 I'm gonna spend a whole fucking year in Afganistan. Well, about a month in Kansas for training, and then the rest in good ol sand land.

Here's the thing. I always hear things about how guys' wives cheat on them while they're away. I'm married, have no children, and we're are a happy couple. Thing is, I don't want her to fuck some guys while I'm away. Is it common for women to do it? Should I talk about this with her? Should I just not say anything because it rarely happens? Help is appreciated.

"because it rarely happens"

Hahaha. It doesn't matter what you say. She WILL cheat on you, that's all there is to it. I'm not even saying this to be a dick, it's the truth. It's not a matter of whether she does it or not, it's a matter of whether you can accept this fact in your mind or let it ruin your marriage.

If your wife loves you, she won't cheat and will spend that time being worried to death about you and missing you like crazy. I wouldn't talk about it with her, as it shows a lot of distrust and that is so hurtful. Don't let it get to you, appreciate each day you have with her until March like it is the last. She is your wife, you've got to trust her because that is all you can do while you are gone.

My fiance is a Marine and he is gone and will continue to be gone throughout next year. I would never cheat on him or consider it, there is no temptation. The men that approach me on the street or even stare get glared at heavily. I am far too busy worrying about him coming home in one piece to be thinking of other men. I just want him home safe and sound, and I am sure your wife wants the same for you.

Is mostly likely not an attractive female but a very heavy male.

Oh don't be such a pessimist.

OP, the best you can do is keep an active line of communication with her. Write her letters as often as possible (once a week or so) send pictures, ask her how life is, etc. You need to keep reminding her that you still exist and that you'll be back again. If you ignore her, she might stray

And good luck in Afghanistan. I've got two extended family members over in the Middle East.

WTF is wrong with people these days!? Has society degraded so much that we require some kind of guarantee that our spose will not cheat while we're away!? Is this somehow normal now? wtf? Cheating is just not even in our minds at all, my fiance and I. it is just a concept so foreign, we wouldn't even think to worry about it. we know that if one of us cheated on the other, that'd be it, and they'd be gone.

and, for that matter, what the hell is with up with all these varying degrees of relationships? "Oh, we're not going out, we're just seeing each other" that shit is messed up...

Impossible.

Best antidote for cheating is making sure you make her understand that you think about her.

If you basically ignore her for a year, you are making things more difficult for yourself,...

No, humans are just not naturally monogamous.

> Is this somehow normal now?

It's always been normal.

> Cheating is just not even in our minds at all, my fiance and I.

She's getting reamed by your best friend.

what kind of a strange culture is this. theres nothing
wrong with cheating. cheating is great.

People need to start accepting it. Its a shame that marriages are broken up just because of a drunken shag ~ lol.

I'm not even sure 'cheating' is the right word to use.
Its such a dysphematic word.

You only have one life and theres so many people in the world.

It's only "cheating" if there are "rules".

So it depends on the relationship in other words. If you agree "no fucking random people while in another country", then doing so would be cheating.

Anyway, to answer the original post, try asking several friends to keep an eye on her. That's what I would do. Never trust a woman... their natural sense of self-entitlement will screw you over ever ytime.
