Staring Battle (30)

For the past week I have been bumping into this one girl across this city. At first I saw her at the movie theatre with what seemed to be a boyfriend. So I glanced at her for about 30 seconds and she seemed to notice. She looked back and left the theatre.

Two days later she is with two elderly looking people (probably parents) at the Calgary Stampede. They get on the sky ride which is like a chair lift bringing people from one side of the carnival to the other. I dont pay any attention to her, and walk under the path of the lift. Yet when I sat down and looked over to the chair shes in shes staring back..

Next day I see her at a fast food place and shes sitting with some friends. My friends and I go over to sit down and she gets up goes to the garbage and she does the same thing. Turns out.. shes also in my summer school, so I am thinking if we get into a staring battle again maybe I should say something? Im not quite sure what would be appropriate considering these weird encounters.

Yes.

Just say "I notice you're infatuated with me. I'll let you date me if you want."

I doubt you will actually do it.

I think this staring battle is kinda cute...

Spice things up. Smile. If staring battle continues, add things like ":P" faces, grimaces, etc. After some times, go up to her and say, something like "okay, you win, you're too strong at staring battles. This is the first time I lose one, may I ask your name?".

Would be a fun opener. Don't let this last too long, by the way.

Also while staring battle is happening, don't look away, embarassed, or creepy. Put on a face like you're having fun and/or enjoying this. Ie, smile and suddenly act like you're trying very hard to keep a straight cold face, then crack a smile again.

that is So cute!
Yea i agree with >>6, hold a serious face and let a smile out. That will catch her attention. Then later go up and talk to her =]

I have a good feeling about this :P Good luck!!

Oh yeah, that would be AWESOME.

Better thing would be buying tons of these stuff and changing it every different time you meet her.

Exactly what I was going to type.

I've gotten into a couple of staring battles before. What I do is give them a slightly raised eyebrow in a confused look kind of way, and then flash them a smile as if "i-don't-know-what's-going-on-but-i'll-just-smile-anyway". This is coming from a girl, but I guess guys could pull it off too.

Oh, I forgot to mention that on both occasions, I've gotten a smile back, and follow-up conversation.

on next staring battle with her, make her notice you are putting your hand between your legs and start fapping. she will come over and give you a bj. ... maybe, but worth a try.

Wow! Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I am replying now on a Saturday so as soon as school starts again on Monday I am going to try your suggestions out! The whole monocle and cigar thing is hilarious. But if I try this is it maybe too ridiculous? Where do I find those anyways haha

if a monocle doesn't get a smile and break the ice, it's at least funny and you'll have a good story to tell

Being ridiculous never killed anyone. And you never have as much panache as when you're ridiculous on purpose and are happy with it.

The monocle thing is over the top. Seriously, you'd pick up more stares from everyone else, and not the kind that you want. It's trying way too hard at being random. I reckon you should do something spontaneous and less effortless. Like a wink and a small/big smile. Keep it simple, stupid.

you are boring >.>

but i sugest next time, make a funny face! (and keep us posted :]

a funny face has the risk of being an ugly face. practice in a mirror first if you choose that

21 Name: Secret Admirer : 2008-07-21 10:39 ID:Heaven

maybe she thinks your stalking her

No, I am being realistic. A lot can be initiated with a wink. If you pull it off, it's smooth and mysterious. It indicates that OP is interested in said girl. The monocle and cigar get up has a way less success rate, and can be interpreted in a myriad of ways. She might think that you're taking the piss out of her, or worse, classify you as a freak. For one thing, she doesn't know that the get-up is specifically orientated at her. She will probably think that you're wearing it just for the hell of it, trying hard at being random. I suggest less effort, more results.

OP here. Today basically consisted of me thinking I would be able to pull something off, but alot of things about my crush have gotten confusing! After waking up maybe 30 minutes later than I am supposed to, I rushed out without taking my binder. Train arrives at the station 5 minutes after the bell and I am relieved because there is still a huge crowd of students leaving the station. I weave through some kids finally get in school. As a true procrastinator would I thought maybe I should buy some time and look around. Which is essentially me taking the long way and peering into a bunch of classes like an owl.

Mind you also I'm half asleep, so after the 6th room some of the kids are starting to look the same. One class did catch my eye but I kept moving anyways. Break time almost starts, yet I decide to leave class early and look around more. Bathroom is the first destination and I wash my face. Instead of looking in the mirror to fix my appearance I leave the rest room right away with a wet face and paper towel in hand. So the next dark classroom with a window becomes my mirror. Problem was, it didnt turn out to be dark because nobody was inside to turn the lights on. The lights inside were simply turned off and the class was copying notes off an overhead... BINGO!

Ms. Cute is taking notes in the desk adjacent to the door... Immediatly my next destination becomes the cafe. I was so happy I found her, and my approach was all planned out! We had to have "clicked" and I wasnt going to give up. A sandwich, and Iced Tea later I'm back in class working hard wondering if I should wait till after school. In class assignments came up so I decided to leave my confrontation for later on. The last bell rings and my friends and I are out. The whole walk back, nobody caught my attention at all. Mystery girl is hanging on to some guys arm! Shock, of course is my initial reaction. At first I had my doubts about everything. Yet now I cant help but think maybe hes just a really.. really.. good friend.

Call it denial but I wish to believe so. The guy she was holding on to, I had actually seen talking to her before and they just seemed like friends, also he was very feminine. Among everything else those brief moments we shared were anything but insignificant. In a long while, confidence is playing a bigger part in my life, and I am not going to stop looking for another battle until I know for sure something is up. Funny how something small like an arm clutch can have my world come crashing down. Anyways I changed everything and persuaded my friends to get on the same car as the girl. I stood on one end and her group of friends walked to the other. Everyone sat down except her, so I decided to stand up.

Before I knew it we were faced opposite and I had no idea what I should try. So after an awkward moment of pereferal eyeballing eachother I cracked a smile and waved! She looked and turned around as if to see if I was waving at someone else. By this time everyone she was with stood up from their seats and got off at the station closest to the movie theatre. The cars pulled away and she looked back at my window and waved back! Another battle ensued.. and I am dumbfounded. Monocles next? I have no idea! LoL

If you're to pull off the monocle thing, do it in a way she understands it's directed towards her. ie, when staring battle starts, just put a face like you suddenly remember something, shuffle through pockets, put monocle, and resume staring with a serious face. Then crack a smile.

>>18 is boring.

Late again today. Every damn room from bath room to foyer was pitch black inside. The lower east wing of the school (which her class was in) was dead empty. Turns out all the three credit courses are out (I'm in five credit), and I had absoulutely no idea. Quitting isnt my thing espeicially at this point (yea this is leaps and bounds for me), but I cant help feeling emotionally crippled.

I pray she goes back to visit a friend during break, or eats some place near school because I really want to see her again. I was really hoping to see her again I was planning to stick my tongue out at her in a funny way. Maybe tell her that whole bit about never being beaten in a staring match before. Giving up isnt an option but I have no other ideas on how to find her.

If being incomprehensibly random works, then kudos to OP. I'm just telling it from a girl's perspective, what I would be attracted to, and recommending the best chance of success.

Glad to hear that OP broke the ice with a good old fashion smile. From her response, it sounds like you will be on her mind as well over the break, so don't fret about her forgetting you. I guess your plan of action now would depend on how long the break is.

Actually she isnt on break, sorry for the misunderstanding. Summer school for her is over, because her course ends earlier. I still have a whole week left. After walking around some more I did see her photo, and apparently she already graduated. It also showed a picture of her on the sports team bulletin. But thanks for helping me out everyone. Talking to someone you like is pretty difficult, but body language says alot on its own espeicially because if you havent talked to someone you liked and just see them around. What movements you have make a huge difference.

Thanks to that bulletin I know what sports she plays, maybe I will see her around the school's YMCA. Who knows.. :P
