This is another story of mine:

Last month, I took an exam for a government position. I only knew about three people who were taking the exam with me, they were friends but we weren’t exactly close in the past. I saw this girl and I guess she saw me too, because our eyes met but being the shy guy that I am, I immediately looked away. I promised myself that if given the opportunity, I will talk to her and get her number.

After lunch, my friends went near the window where my crush was sitting and one of my friends started reading a book on a desk. Turns out that the book was owned by my crush, and there I was skipping with joy inside my head because here was the opportunity that I was looking for. I immediately joked that my friend who was reading the book couldn't stand not knowing the answer and my crush smiled.

So after that, the ice was broken and we were all talking, my friends and I along with my crush and her friend about how hard the test was. The conversation shifted into relationships, and my crush's friend hinted that my crush was perpetually single. The time for the last test came, afterwards we all finished and it was time to go home. I told my crush that I would accompany her down the building.

I properly introduced myself, she did too, I asked for her number, she gave it to me. Turns out she would wait for her friend to be picked up by his boyfriend, so I told them I would be joining them. So we talked again amongst ourselves, me, my crush and her friend. The whole time I was getting positive reactions from my crush; she was laughing at my jokes etc. Turns out my crush and I had to go to the same place to get a bus, she asked me to go there together.

As soon as we got to the bus stop, it got noisy because of all the people, and I think she told me to text her, I said ok. So that night, I texted her saying that I had a wonderful time with her earlier that day and she replied the same. Being that I wanted to see her again soon, I replied that we should hang out and do lunch on the weekend. She replied that she wasn't available that weekend because she had to visit her family, and I think she was a little bit intimidated because she suggested we should include our friends from the test. I replied that I will contact my friends and asked her what time she would be free, but she hasn't replied to my last text.

tl;dr met a girl and got her number, thought I had good vibes from our initial encounter, asked her out but she seems to be flaking.

Wear the pants. Tell her what time and where to meet you, don't be timid or she'll get the wrong idea.

Remember though, every girl is different so don't take this as a rule of thumb.
