There is this girl who I've been crushing over. She is part of my small group of friends and I've known her since last semester. I think I almost knew she didn't like me but anyway I did not approach her in any way or form until today. In the morning, I gave her a dozen roses and a carnation out of the blue. I wrote a sappy fucking poem in the card. She as expected rejected me. I expect many awkward months to follow this day.
The thing is that everyone in the group knows about it now and it is just so damn unbelievably awkward. Not even funny.

yours friends are people too, aren't they? I think the real awkwardness will be being in contact with that girl... but as many things, it just takes time for that awkwardness to disappear, just try not to think about it and be like normal

Oh god, I don't know what the fuck to do anymore. I have reverted back to shut-in mode and I feel horrible and I feel embarrassment beyond which I have ever felt before.
just say it was a laugh to your mates, say it was worth a try after all it was valentines day and joke about it, that alway get rid of embarrassments.
tell your mates or to hers if shes not around that she caught your eye and just wanted to give it a try at least, no harm done for having the balls to try it. shrug it off really

Yeah, I guess I could joke about it. I just had this really awkward dinner and no one spoke of it basically. Yesterday me and my friend spoke to her and said something that amounted to we still want to be friends. I am pretty sure that now everyone thinks I am a freak of a human being because omg what the fuck is wrong with me. I really really do not have the speech skills to make this go away. Aargh.
If these people are really your friends, they'll support the both of you and eventually this will be in the past.
Personally I don't think what you did is stupid at all. You followed your heart and it didn't work out. People have been in much worse situations than yours.
You'll find out if they're true friends or not soon enough.
Things will only go bad if you make them bad. Basically if you decide that it's ok and forget about it, then all your friends will do the same.
Right now you are the only one angsting about it, so give yourself a break.
Oh, and next time take your time before confessing to a girl. You really need to give her a chance to notice you before confronting her with this kind of stunts.
