OP, I don't really get how productive this survey is meant to be. It's really just a getting to know you thread under the guise of a "greater cause" right? I mean come on, some of these questions and the life story you give are a wee bit irrelevant. Nonetheless, it is interesting to read the profiles of the posters here.

I have to add though, there is a difference between emo and deep. I think you're the former. You like to feel sorry for yourself and would like to think of yourself as the tragic hero. No way are you deep because judging from your posts in other threads, you criticise people and jump to conclusions way too quickly without thinking.

As for "Asian upbringing", I had that too, and I turned out fine. As a girl, I was beaten, humiliated, bullied by students AND teachers, ran away from home a couple of times and was driven to the point of suicidal thoughts. And that's not even the whole story. But you know what the difference between you and me is? I quickly realised that life around you goes on. It doesn't wait for you, and if you're going to mope around in self pity, then you're just going to get left behind. I had so much I wanted to achieve, and I only had myself to blame if I continued to be haunted by my past.

other note, I actaully dont jump into conclusions without thinking, this is simply based on experience, I also give everything and everyone a try which makes me easy to approach and one of the first people to do stuff.

I don't know you in real life, but as I said, this is judging by your posts in other threads to other posters. Sometimes you take them too seriously, when they were clearly being sarcastic, and you don't really get your facts right first. I know, because I was one of the other posters.

I can't pretend to understand what you go through, because the stuff I went through hasn't traumatized me to that degree. But I truly believe that it was because I didn't give it a chance to swallow me up. You have to stop feeling sorry for yourself, and think a certain way so that you're at ease with your past. For me, I thought "Shit happens. I can't change the past, and I'm sure there are a lot more people out there worse off than me. I'd just get left behind if I kept thinking about the past." And so I packed all my bad experiences away into a box, and pressed on forward.

I didn't talk about your achievement. I said that there were things I wanted to achieve, so I wasn't gonna let some bad experiences get in the way. That's how I got out of my hole. You on the other hand are thinking that by finding romantic love, you'll somehow heal yourself. I don't know how true this is. I believe that you have to be strong as an individual first, before you have enough space in your world to accept another person. I think love will momentarily distract you from all the trauma for a while, but if that love turns sour, you're just gonna be back in the same place as before.

The third option is to see a therapist, and find peace with yourself first. I don't know from where you got this notion that love will cure everything. It's a rather romanticist view, but not a very realistic one. You're literally saying "I have to get a girlfriend, or I'll die."

Us Asians typically aren't really that good at being emotional and open with each other. I think Asian parents try to show their love in a different way. Or rather, have a different perspective of love to us. At the end of the day, they still love us, and would die for us, and I think you have to realise that. Sometimes their actions can be destructive, but overall, like I said, I turned out okay. I have good morals, self belief and values instilled into me, so I can't complain.
