Someone please help me sort this out.

There was this guy. We go to a language class together.
We never really saw of spoke to each other till one fine day, we did.
He was a good and helpful friend; and I started to feel this emotional inclination towards him.
I never made it obvious.
But lately he's changed, Though he occasionally clarifies my doubts now and then, he is mean. He has scolded me for petty things. He doesn't answer his phone when I call like he used to...

He isn't the same as he was before.

Despite the times he was mean; I still have a fondness for him;
What the hell is this all about?
He's mean, so why can't I ignore him?
why do I still not dislike him?

Maybe he's got other things on his mind.

Just talk to him. "Hey, you've been acting different lately." Is that so hard?

Like >>2 said. Why won't you try and ask that question? It's not that hard to ask what is on someone's mind, don't ya think?

Also, it means you care about him. Simple as that.

>>3 Okay I'll do that. But do you think he'll open up?
I'll keep you posted on what happens though.

He should, just hope he will otherwise he's hiding something form you or he has something or someone troubling him. A lot of reasons you know but still you gotta talk him out of it. Communication is the key for a relationship, like I always said.

Also remember that some guys are just assholes at heart.

I have one friend that can be a really nice guy at times, but when it comes down to it he is nothing short of one of the worst assholes I've ever met in my life. :\

You should practice what you preach.

I'm sorry to say, but I think he feels smothered by you. I could be wrong, it is very possible that there could be a different reason, so I agree that you should ask him to confirm. My instinct tells me however, that he is just an ass and might've realised that you liked him.

Oh? Communication isn't the key then? Would you care to elaborate with me?

I am not >>7, but I agree that communication is the key. It just can't solve everything. There's this mental rolodex that we all have and different things mean totally different things for different people. The guy from this story may be a jerk, may be a good guy who's trying to make her not like him, may be thinking that she doesn't like him as a guy but only a friend and that pisses him off, or may be a jerk again. I honestly doubt that he will admit what's bugging him and there's definitely something bugging him.. normal people do have jerk episodes but always for a reason. So, >>1 I'd say just ask him but try to not reveal (at least not too obviously) that you like him.

>>5 I agree with you. There haven't been many moments which he opened up to me; Because I never asked :P I'll try.

>>6 Oh yes, I know.

I smile only when he smiles. He knows I'm friendly but I don't make it my -other- feelings obvious.
Oh, and this happened last Sunday:
He let be sit by him when he was having lunch that day in class. We were talking and laughing for half an hour till his lunch-break ended;
He even gave me a mango slice :3

I never said communication wasn't important. In fact, I agreed that OP should talk to him. I said "You should practice what you preach". This means that if you, Ryuuchi, give others advice, you should follow it too. You tend to splurt out a lot of fluff and nice sounding principles on this board, but you don't seem live by them.

I don't live by them but is it wrong to give them an advice like that to them? I mean, even I don't seem to live by them can't I help with the best of my knowledge and abilities to help out someone? I'd like to help out with others and it has nothing to do with me between the people I help out with the words I preach. I believe that so.

It seems he had a bad day or something. I guess you're back on track with him.
