I need some advice. A while back, my ex dumped me and buggered off with another guy. She said she wanted to stay friends. Needless to say, I was crushed, and for quite some time, very angry. I got a new girlfriend and was happy for quite some time. We have since broken up, but my ex (#1) is still with her new boyfriend. I'm still a bit irritated at her, but now she seems to be picking up on this irritation all of a sudden, and wants me to actually act like her friend again. Unfortunately, whenever I try to start a conversation, she promptly ends it. This leaves me in the position of being both confused and mad as hell.

Any advice? Any ideas on what might be going on at all?

Don't let her ruin your happiness... I can see that she really hurt you and you are/were mad about it. It seems like she's only trying to be your friend because it would make her feel better. Let her live her life while you live yours

yeah thats pretty much the same situation I'm in minus the anger and whole second girlfriend bit. She is just using you as someone to talk to when she's bored. I'm pretty sure she isn't trying to be annoying or piss you off intentionally she just wants to talk to you every now and then and that isn't really a bad thing if anything it should make you feel a little better knowing she left you not because you're a terrible person but because she had feelings for someone else which shows honesty and indicates that she still values you as a person. She ends your conversations most likely because she is a crazy bitch and might be confused herself. It doesn't really matter why just talk to her and be friendly when she talks to you and ignore her the rest of the time it works for me.
