got set up (11)

I'm being set up by someone who I briefly met last week. She said "she has a friend" who I may be compatible with.

A question has to be raised here. How did she learn enough about me in the three minutes we met to know what sort of lady I'd be compatible with? It baffles me.

I suppose this will be my first "blind date". Have any of you been on such dates before? What's your opinion of them?

Hmm, perhaps she based it on voice, looks and general attitude in the conversation?

Never had a blind date myself, so can't help you there. My fiancée is the only person I have ever been romantically involved with, and we never really "dated", more of just finally met up in person and soon started being more intimate after having been best online buddies for years.

When is this date?

don't know yet. In fact, I haven't even heard back from whoever it is who might be interested in me, so the whole date thing is up in the air. I'd be just as happy if it fell through, to be honest, because I don't have a whole lot of time for dating. I've also got serious problems when it comes to attraction, because most women really do nothing for me at all.

But I always hold out hope for that .0001 percent chance, so if I do hear back I figure I may as well accept. What's the worst that can happen?

Sudden assassination, but that's besides the point.

I've been on one of these blind dates before. They're alright.

That's a good way to look at it.

One time I mistakenly went on a double date with a friend of mine, his girlfriend and her best friend.

It went horribly wrong. I ended up feeling like a fourth wheel and I accidentally offended the girl who I was supposed to be "dating". I was unaware of this until a few weeks afterward so that lead to a whole series of complications.

We went to see a movie, I sat down and she acted as if she didn't want to sit next to me. That offended me, leading me to sit by myself which had offended her more than she had already been offended.

All in all, it was a horrible night and I ended up crying during the first hour of the movie, she stormed into the restroom and had an emotional breakdown and I ruined a friendship with someone that I've known since the 7th grade.

>>8 it sounds like your "date" was a massive bitch, in which case you bear no blame for what happened. And if your friend broke things off with your for that reason, he couldn't have been much of a friend to begin with.

But I have no friends, so what do I know.

>>1 I sure hope it doesn't go like >>8's went. Please update!

Never happened. It's just as well. I'm always game, though. Like I said, that extremely remote chance that it would work - that she's the type who would really do it for me - I can't deny that possibility.
