Girlfriend acting differently to her friends than in general public/private? (7)

Does anyone have experience with their SO acting very differently to their casual friends? In my experience, my girlfriend has acted similarly in private, with mutual friends, and with friends she has known for a long time. But if she is either just meeting my friends for the firs time, or we are mutually meeting people for the first time and joking around, she will act less kind to me than usual? Tougher, and less caring, in my experience. Like she's trying to "impress" them? Does anyone know what I'm talking about I think it's very juvenile of her, and I try to avoid doing the same thing.

Maybe she just wants these new people to see her as an independent person, rather than someone's chick,...

It does not seem very serious, why don't you talk to her about it?

My ex did that. Before she cheated on me with them.

Could be completely involuntary. Just try to understand where she's coming from.
I'd say she feels more relaxed around her friends, such that she can just be herself. Around new people she's more guarded, most likely to prevent herself from being hurt or appearing vulnerable.
