One of the top ten manga the scanlation community is doing right now, IMHO. Definitely my favorite. It's also a nice change from the usual material.
Of course, coming from a hentai background, I have to wonder if Alpha will ever have fun. Har! (Admit it, you've also wondered...)
It's worth noting that Manga-Project also does Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.
I was actually a bit shocked when someone made a YKK doujin :(
Also one of my all-time favourites. Serialized in Afternoon, where many of my other favourite manga run, such as Narutaru/Shadow Star and Genshiken. Milk Closet also ran in Afternoon, as did much of Riichi Ueshiba's work, like Yume Tsukai.
I wish I could find somewhere to get the actual magazine.
Someone made a doujin for YKK? o.o;
Well, after noticing that there were Naruto doujins (aaah, my eyes!), I decided there's doujins for everything.
A lot of awesome series run/ran in Afternoon. Yokohma Kaidashi Kikou, Blame, Endo, Blade of the Immortal, Ah! Megami-sama (yes, I suck), etc, etc. If they released it in English I'd definitely buy it.
Probably won't happen any time soon, but Kodansha appears aware that the popularity of manga is increasing outside of Asia.
http://www.kodanclub.com/ is a pretty good hint that they are aware of it, yes, but sadly they've been slacking off with updating that site for some time now.
Also: Saa! Yarou! Onnanoko!

even hamtaro!
It's amusing when the doujin artists are considerably better than the original mangaka. Want to bet the actual Naruto manga might be worth looking at if CCC replaced the mangaka?
Which reminds me, the mangaka for Naruto overuses fish-eye lens effects. Interesting feat the first time, quite annoying the rest.
Chapter 121 is out.

USA and Canada! Waah!
For you who use Share, I found raws to the manga.

No one knew what I did.
Time to revive this thread to give a bit more of a permanent home to the YKK geography lesson:
Most of YKK takes place on the Miura peninsula, south of Yokohama. Remember to correct for higher sea levels!
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.179982,139.639664&spn=0.123694,0.187540&hl=en (scroll straight north to get to Yokohama).
Alpha's cafe seems to be somewhere on this cape:
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.201586,139.611425&spn=0.030915,0.046885&hl=en
The cruise-missile fireworks probably took place out on this bay to the north:
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.302167,139.541473&spn=0.030877,0.046885&hl=en
The Northern Town, where Alpha goes to watch the lights come on, would most likely be here along the northern short of Miura:
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.269308,139.694595&spn=0.061779,0.093770&hl=en
The sand-covered seaside road that Sensei and Ojiisan ride down in one of the flashback scenes seems to be here:

If you want to do your own geographical research, I recommend looking out for the brief glimpses of maps in the manga, and also the street signs in the backgrounds of a lot of the views of roads. Post your finds!
Right, I just played around with Google Earth for a while, and did some more organized research about the locations in Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. The first draft of the results can be found here:
http://wakaba.c3.cx/ykk/ykk.kmz
You can either load that up in Google Maps, or you can use my new toy, an online KML/KMZ file viewer using the Google Maps API:

This covers what I could figure out from volumes 1-10. Many entries are somewhat uncertain, and are marked with (approx) for locations that I only know roughly where they are, and (wild guess) or (?) when I'm just guessing from insufficient clues and/or intuition. There are probably more locations that can be identified from the first ten volumes, so if you have a copies of YKK and Google Earth handy, and feel obsessive enough, feel free to make corrections and additions! I'll be working through the later chapters at some point, too.
Unsolved questions and mysteries:
Added some locations from later chapter. New mystery: Where is that tower in chapter 129, exactly?
