On a more serious note, it has great character-driven comedy and genuine pathos. If you like it, the ending will leave you as depressingly sad and nostalgically happy as the last Calvin and Hobbes strip. At first it's a funny enough 4-panel manga, but before you know it, the girls are growing up before you and they're graduating and you realize it's time to say goodbye. It's like going through high school all over again, but without the bad parts.

I find the anime better in this case but I still enjoy all of the manga. That being said, as a manga, Yotsuba&! is a hundred times better.

Essentially yes. The art is a little different in the first volume, but the character designs are refined later on.

Sata Andagi!!!

ingredients:
oil for deep frying
4 eggs
3/4 cup milk
3/4 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3 1/2 Tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

prep:

1. In a deep fryer or deep skillet, heat oil to 350 F.
2. In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, and vanilla. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
3. Add to egg mixture; stir until dry ingredients are moistened and dough is smooth.
4. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough into the hot oil; fry until golden brown and doughnuts rise to the surface.
5. Drain on paper towel lined plates and serve hot, but they are also good cooled down.

As for the manga, I thoroughly enjoy it every time I read it. I had a thanatology teacher in high school that acted just like Yukari...

After the longest time, I got the first manga. Pretty good.

Also, I'd like to point out that it is almost an exact carbon-copy of the TV show minus a few parts.

The omnibus edition is interesting. It's like they just slapped together the four books, removing the covers. Is there any new material in it? I've been considering buying it because it will be more fun to throw at people.

Nothing new in omnibus really, just harder to read/carry around cause it's so huge. I think I wasted my money on it.

sata andagi looks like malasadas when i saw pics of it online...

i want 2 c more of da anime...but i guess i have 2 finish my other ones first b4 doin' dat. Maybe I should buy da omnibus version eventually...it should b fun readin' 4-slide strips over and over again!!

I got volume II for Japanese practice. Bad idea; there aren't any furigana so I don't know about 40% of the kanji. Other than that, the jokes are usually easy enough to get, especially having seen the anime already.
