I'm talking about the music Dempa, also known as "Akiba-pop"
I have seen it spelled as either Denpa or Dempa music. There's a bit of discussion in this thread, http://4-ch.net/music/kareha.pl/1111380719/ but I think you would be better off asking in the /nihongo/ board. It's still very much a niche thing in western otaku/weeaboo circles.
