I don't know what the hell esnip is, but try http://freealbums.blogsome.com/ for a good overview of the netlabels/free music available on the web. There's much, much more where that came from if you explore netlabels.

Also, if some of your favorite bands are trade-friendly, you could check out the Live Music Archive: http://www.archive.org/details/etree

You might have meant illegal downloads of like RIAA stuff, in which case good luck (MODD doesn't like us linking to that here). But between netlabels and live shows, there's plenty of excellent free music to listen to.

Jamendo.com and everything Creative Commons licensed is free and legal. Limewire is good for illegal if you have a stable OS or good virus software, and it's really easy to rip streaming audio if you set up your browser right.
