interested in people's choice of headphones, as i recently picked up myself some Alessandro MS-1s (modded Grados) and they rawk. what do you use??

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD-280 Pros. The sound quality is great but they're a little uncomfortable after a while.

Usually, I listen on cheap desktop speakers that scatter the sound so little they can practically be used as headphones.

I've had a pair of Sony MDR-V700s for years: they're sturdy, comfortable and the sound quality is pretty damn good.

AKG k501. They're amazing if you're into dry, clear sound. The mids are incredible.
If you want "phat" oontz oontz homie-bass don't bother with them.
Also, they are somewhat pricey (200+ bucks usually).

A sony MDR-G57 average sound quality and fits quite nice. Thought I wish I had one of those sound canceling head phones.

Sennheiser HD 25-1 owner here. I rally love them, awesome headphones, they go wherever I go.

A little bit expensive, you could get a better sound for that money, but they are very portable and you simply can't beat Sennheiser built quality. I bet ppl will find these headphones after nuclear winter.. in working condition.

I like them a lot, but by no means are they the best headphone around. Theyre a great "first pair" of decent phones and you will definatly notice an improvement over whatever it is you listen to now.

you what? comfort is THE most important thing. if they're gonna be on my head for hours at a time, i care so much less about the sound quality than whether having them on my head drives me batshit or not. (besides which, i only use headphones for listening to mp3s on the train or playing video games, neither of which exactly needs pristine audio reproduction.)

I'm not sure about that, I'm also >>8. (The MDR-V6s broke and I'm using a pair of earbuds right now, though, so technically it's true.)

Sony MDR-V300. They're pretty good. Or, if I'm on the train or something, JVC HA-F120, which are as good as I need them to be.

I just bought myself Sony MDR-XD400.
Great sound, awesome bass. The only problem is that my ears start to hurt after a few hours because they touch the inner hard plastic that is covered by a softer cussion. :/

mm, i've wanted a pair of grados for a long time

currently wearing a pair of senn hd205s, got a pair of fancy sony v600s that I really need to replace the pads on, but it'd cost me $40 buying from sony so I haven't...any suggestions on how to fix this? they're a good pair and I don't have any plans to toss them, I might cave in eventually and buy the replacements.

Sony MDV600 is the best I've ever had, though I've had mine for two years and the pads are also wearing down. Mine are pretty much held together by gorilla glue and electric tape. I got a newer pair of Sony's for Christmas, but the V600's have a sound that is huge, like being in a studio where you can pick out every little instrument.

Sennheiser HD-280 Pro. Great sound quality, but they're uncomfortable and make my head hot. Also, I hear lots of background noise, probably due to crosstalk on my sound card, which I don't notice when using speakers.

My headphones haven't been made since the early 80s, probably. Try looking up "Stanton XXI"s. They cost about $75 bucks back in the late '70s.

For some reason they are still fantastic headphones, and I love them. I dunno how they haven't broken yet. Actually, I just replaced the cloth on the phones because it was basically flat and uncomfortable, since the Stantons are all metal with denim for the headband.

Philips SBCHC132 - which are really POS headphones. They're cheap and because they're the wireless RF type. I hated these since I bought them, but a few days ago I found a way to make them sound alright.

A cheap Koss 20 dollar POS. I really want a pair of headphones like my old Sony headphones, which had comfy padding in the ear cups, no f'ing collapsible band which rips out my hair and maybe a solid surface on the outside of the earcups (instead of the superfluous stereo grille type thing they often have).

I know they are BS headphones but I LOVE my skullcandy DJ headphones. I'm a big can of clunky sci-fi looking headgear.
