Ultimately, what this thread is about is the fact that the internet is becoming mainstream. And, after years in the company of people smart enough to set up a computer, we're not ready to accept how stupid most people really are.
On topic, I agree that the /b/ board should be split, with several identical boards to prevent stupid wars between them. With any luck, 4chan's moderators will be willing to handle it again, and we can improve the overall quality of the place.
I really don't care what happens to /b/ or its thousand bastard offspring any more. They're all filled with boring, normal people now. People who have actual conversations about their daily lives. Kids who think it's another clique they can join. And genuine trailer trash that somehow managed to manipulate a keyboard. /b/ was never good, but it used to suck less.

That's a 50% increase on threads up before they are auto-deleted, plus they've increased to the replies a post can have before being auto-saged to something like 350.
