If you use an LCD monitor, you lose less power to have a white screen than a black one, although I don't think it's a very big difference.
I have a LCD monitor, but I still prefer the black version, because looking at it is nicer on my eyes.

But in short, "LCD" is pronounced "ell see dee", which starts with a vowel sound. Since it starts with a vowel sound, you use "an".
