Update #3: Authorities say the suspect, Dimitrios Pagourtzis, was injured during the event.

Before the shooting, Pagourtzis had previously posted (on April 30, 2018) photos on Facebook of a t-shirt reading "BORN TO KILL" and a jacket with Nazi, fascist, communist, and religious symbols on it. The post with the jacket photos contained the text "Hammer and Sickle = Rebellion, Rising Sun = Kamikaze Tactics, Iron Cross = Bravery, Baphomet = Evil, Cthulu = Power."

Pagourtzis' journal was found, in which he states that he intended to kill himself after the shooting. Once arrested, Pagourtzis told authorities he did not have the courage to commit suicide.

Pagourtzis acted with a shotgun and a .38 caliber revolver, neither of which were legally his property. It is not currently known how he came to be in possession of the weapons.

Pagourtzis is being held on capital murder charges without bond at Galveston County jail. Additional charges may be pending.

John Barnes, the aforementioned injured police officer, is currently in surgery to repair his elbow, which was shot by Pagourtzis. Though his condition is listed as "critical," his vitals are reportedly stable, with Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo stating that Barnes is "hanging in there."

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston has taken three other patients from the shooting this morning: a 15-year-old male was treated and released; a female in her mid-50s is currently in surgery to treat a gunshot wound to her leg; a child of unknown age suffered an unknown leg injury.

This concludes our coverage of the active shooter situation at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.
