I have a question.

Are the Japanese people really so polite? I often see in films - and to a lesser extent, anime - nothing but politeness. In contrast to where I live (North America) this is very astonishing. People here are usually very unfriendly and mean, especailly as strangers. Is this just Japanese media, or are people actually as friendly and polite as they appear?

>>413 here. I should also add, are the majority of Japanese as introverted and reserved as they seem to be in TV, film and anime, or does this just go along with the politeness?
