I think I might start smoking weed, dropping acid, and eating shroomz (48)

Recently I've been in a creative slump, along with a mild case of severe depression. I watch anime, read manga, listen to fucked up music, look at fucked up shit on the internet, and hang around my mom. LIfe has become boring, and like... I'm pretty sure that the above prescription can enhance the flavor of what I currently enjoy. I don't know, I've been logical so long that I feel its time to just mess up my room a bit, ya know? I want to start making vicious art that will seriously leave an impression in la peoples mind and I definitely don't think geometric shapes, like squares, will cut it. I just want to say fuck it, really, and go all out, even if I die because wtf is life if you don't try to experience it in as many ways as you can imagine. I just need to express myself and I feel drugs will open my soul up as wide as a gaping hallway. watcha think? nay or YAY!!!

I would stay away from anything chemical/man made. Stick with weed. Shrooms are okay for some people but if you have a dark or negative state of mind stay away from them, unless you are into nightmares. I stress this even more so with acid because it is much more powerful than shrooms. Whatever drugs you decide to do, either do them alone or with chill people because it totally kills everything if you are around the wrong people.

DO NOT do them alone. When taking hallucinogens, always have a sitter to keep you from doing something stupid. Acid itself is pretty harmless, but if it makes you think you can dodge cars or fly off your roof, you may just try it. Have a sitter to keep things under control.

I hear Salvia is dangerous when you smoke it... I don't wanna get that messed up. Also, I hear you should have someone with you, which I don't have.

But I hear it's sort of pleasant and way milder when you just chew on it, or make a tea out of it. I'm considering trying this. Bad idea? Good idea?

I'd say just take some Kava root and sleep. Kava, since it only affects the dreams you have when you feel asleep from it's soporific effects, is legal.

Do what you want but know that if you become addicted then your art is going to be the least of your worries. I know where you're coming from when it comes to looking at weird shit (I tend to look up tons of guro and other such things myself and I listen to speedcore and other extremely abrasive types of music.) being too logical about things but sorry, people are FAR from logical. If anything people are the exact opposite. We're constantly being driven by emotion so let your emotions drive your art and other endeavors. I wouldn't advise towards relying on mind altering substances to kick start your creative drive. Just go with whatever comes to you when you think about how your life is and what you want to get out of it in the way of art and such.

Best of luck in your endevors and let us know how it goes.

Sorejaa.

That shit is crap.

I say go for it, you'll definitely come out different on the otherside. I had a similar mindset a few years back, went from smoking weed to smoking dmt just be especially careful when messing with opiates and amphetamines. I landed myself in a mental ward for about a month as a result of sleep deprivation + dmt so be extremely careful and keep moderation and all that.

erowid.org and bluelight.ru are good sites

I never smoked, drank, ate, injected, sniffed, put on, smashed, whirled or kicked anything witch is mind altering.
If you need to alter your mind, it means that you have a total disrespect for who you as an individual.

Never taken tea, coffee, aspirin or other painkillers? Drugs are everywhere, you know, whether you know it or not.

I'll tell you a secret: oxygen is a drug. It's even used for anhesthesis. Oh, and you very body produces hormones that can alter your mind. Adrenaline, endorphines, and many others.

Doing sports for example activates a lot of these secretions, and that's why a lot of people are - more or less - addicted to their morning jog, evening tennis or what do I know.

You might not have used drugs the obvious way, but you sure have used mind-altering substances. Because you live. Sorry for that.

There is a difference between tea and coffee and the drugs which are at discussion here. I don't think I need to explain the difference unless your head is full of shit, which wont matter anyway. and no , I have not taken excess caffeine (energy drinks, and aspirin/painkiller comes only when sick.

>>31 again , we both know what we are discussing here, if you wanna troll my argument with bullshit then make a visit to your bathroom instead.

Again: If you need to alter your mind by artificial means, it means that you have a total disrespect for who you are as an individual.

>Again: If you need to alter your mind by artificial means, it means that you have a total disrespect for who you are as an individual.

If you allow a third party to take control of what you can and cannot consume, it means that you have a total disrespect for who you are as an individual.

>There is a difference between tea and coffee and the drugs which are at discussion here

Not really.

Caffeine, like alcohol, nicotine and major anti-depressants, once absorbed into the bloodstream rapidly travel to them brain. Like drugs, it binds to receptors, fooling them. In this case, it binds the the Adenosine receptors, however it does not activate them. This prevents dopamine from being inhibited, and dopamine results in stimulation. Also, it results in an increase in seratonin which elevates mood. It also prevents the breakdown of cyclic AMP, by interfering with receptors. This results in an increase of glucose production, which can result int more energy available to the body. The theobromine, a caffeine derivative found in chocolate is also believed to fool certain receptors and activate them, allegedly causing a mild pleasurable experience.

Aspirins on the other hand, while not directly acting on the brain inhibit COX enzyme, which are those that transmit pain to the brain. They essentially act as blockers.

Now let's compare these to other drugs. Salvia divinorum, the unique hallucinogenic mint, is known as a dissociative. Like caffeine it occupies brain receptors without activating them, causing an effect. In this case, the effect is caused because certain enzymatic bindings that created regular conscious existence is being blocked, so the brain inhibits certain reactions, while other continue to occur. Other drugs, like theobromine, such a opiates, like heroin, bind to receptors, activating them when there is no stimulus. Opium for example, rapidly becomes morphine, and binds to morphine receptors.

As you can see, drugs are not some weird viral chemical which violates the brain, but rather, are chemicals which exploit existing systems in the body, with molecules similar to those found already in the body.

You yourself admitted you used mind-altering drugs, albeit to a minor degree. There is no biochemical difference in mechanism of action between drugs. All of them work by synthesizing or mimicking in some way the mechanism of a natural molecule found in the body.

And what of the native shamans in South America, who have made yaje to commune with the spirits? The Vedic people of pasts who worshipped the divine soma? The Oracle of Delphi whom inhaled mysterious vapors and on whom the Greek world turned? Even the meditative Buddhist monks who instead of using chemicals learn to control their bodies to stimulate hallucinogenic experiences, or the whirling dervishes who dance to do the same? Are these people, who seek a higher power through traditional use just plain sick? In many circles, it is believe that it is not religion that is the opiate of the people, but rather that opiates made the religions of the peoples. Are you willing to make the statement that religion, derived from altered states of consciousness, is just a form of sickness?

The people who take Yaje, or the Vine of the Soul, believe that the chemicals, known in scientific nomenclature as DMT, allows them to see beyond the veil of death. Scientifically there are studies that show a flood of DMT molecules produced by the brain moments before death.

Okay, I've been a bit harsh, but I must admit that superior tone of yours pissed me off. Anyway I wasn't trying to troll, but just to expose an idea (basically, the same as >>34). That is, there is not really a 'violation', but more like a 'different usage'. It's not artificial.

Of course, I see your point: "however you're doing that, you're still altering your mind". What I do not see is the correlation that implies that if one does alter his mind, he has no respect for himself as an individual.

My point, still, is valid. People do sports to feel good. Like pushing weights, running for no apparent reason, etc. How is that less natural than eating a mushroom or two? Remember we aren't talking about morals, or whatever. "Respect for yourself" is something that is purely individual, you'll have to agree; so let's not be biased by the way society looks at this. So what if you have no problem in altering your mind while you're clean and do not feel bad or ashamed about it? Do you still disrespect yourself? And what if you think it's stupid to run in circles, and think that those who do that are ridiculous, miserable and should be ashamed? (before this point gets flamed, understand that this is an hypothesis and not - well, not really - how I feel). Does that mean that "every person who does sports is disrespectful of herself" ? I don't think.

Understand that I'm not defending drugs. I'm not making excuses either. With the exception of some alcohol from times to times, I don't use drugs. But I can't agree with what you state as a fact.

And keep in mind that out of the 7 billion people, on a small rock lost in the universe, your individual is actually quite small.

when I was younger, about 14-15, i suffered from severe depression and anxiety disorders.. and I went to countless headshrinks who tried putting me on pill after pill. the pills would work, somewhat.. though I can never say I truly felt happy, I just didnt feel quite as bad. And then when I was about 16 I smoked my first joint with my aunt.. and, well ever since ive been depression free. I'ma ll for the smoking weed for "therapy" and influencing your creativity.. but I wouldnt go to heavy on acid.. I mean not only can it fuck your brain up, but you can never tell if you're bvuying a real hit of acid or jsut a fucking piece of paper from someone whose trying to make a quick $10.

By god, massive amounts of stupidity in this thread.

OP; Try not use drugs as a chemical crutch - They're all fine and dandy, but if you ever need to rely on them, something's wrong, so proceed with caution if you ever find yourself in a position like that (and this applies across the entire spectrum of drugs, from Coffee to Heroin).

That aside, people in this thread need to stop trying to force their retarded opinions on other people. You think drugs are bad because of reasons X, Y, and Z? Good for you, keep it to yourself. Likewise, some people would rather be without them, so in the interests of respecting their opinions (Or not starting flamewars), let them be - In the end, do whatever you feel is right for yourself.
