Laugh all you want at the pathetic-ness of my problem, but I just can't seem to justify spending $600 + on a PC upgrade when I know I should be saving the money for my job for college things, like books, or food. Problem is, I have no idea if/when/how I will be going back to college. And in the mean time I have all this money on my hands........... [>_<]

You can see the difficulty that I'm in I'm sure.

I guess it's time like these you need to grow up and save money on important stuff and crap. But I'm such a long way from growing up as it is... Being a total loser NEET/FREETR. And my computer's so... so underpowered!

Some people justify on spending 600 dollar on a gaming console.. which all it is used for is gaming. A PC has other uses and can also help you along with college.

However, I would suggest you keep that 600 dollar as emergency money in case of well emergency and if you have a job, keep a seperate container as "PC upgrade fund" It'll take a bit, but you will definitely have enough for an upgrade.

Is all you're looking for a schoolwork PC? Unless you're some graphic artist, you don't need too many specs, right? When you say "upgrade," I assume you can assemble a computer yourself and are using old parts from your current PC... If that's the case, just buy some new parts off newegg.com. You'll save a shit-ton of money that way.

And you don't have to upgrade everything either. As long as you have some basics covered (like enough RAM and hard drive space...) chances are that the computer you're using right now can do pretty much everything you want. Except games.

I've been using a 500MHz P-III as my main computer for the last four years, and it does everything I want, like downloading/watching anime and porn ... I mean movies. Web / email / schoolwork / programming obviously is no problem either.

Yeah, this is one of those greedy upgrades with games in mind.

But I think I'll have to hold out on buying myself expensive stuff until I've started doing something constructive, like getting decent grades. Or a sustainable job.

It sucks being a lazy spoiled kid.
